Spectacular Honeymoon

May 18th, 2020

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon in March 2019. It was spectacular in every single way. We stayed in a South Seas Club Level Swim Up room. The room itself was extremely well appointed and comfortable. The in room bar was wonderful, especially the Caribbean rum! The main Infiniti pool is absolutely stunning. Amazing service the entire way through. We did a few excursions and learned to scuba dive. We booked a follow up trip to Grenada for July 2020 while on-site and got an amazing deal. We have since also booked a return trip to Sandals Barbados for Summer 2021. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

You owe me money please get in touch

May 17th, 2020

I am hoping that Shawn, from guest services reads this and gets touch as everything else I’ve tried has failed. We stayed in room 7210 from Jan 25th for one week. We were given a complementary couples massage due to the poor service we received whist on resort. I’ve contacted you many times to say that we’re actually charged for this and spoke to Shawn who said we would get a refund. We are still waiting. I’ve tried calling and emailing but nothing. I’m sure you have our details on file, please get in touch and refund our money. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing.Amazing

May 5th, 2020

Having only just found time to write this review, I realise a whole year has passed by - we visited at Easter last year, 2019. As Sandals first-timers we were unsure what to expect and were expertly guided by Gillian Ashwood at We Travel To (look her up on Facebook) to a Butler Oceanview Suite with balcony overlooking the pool and ocean. We are not ones for fuss so were unsure about the whole 'butler' concept but would definitely recommend - Tony and De Angelo kept us well looked after. The resort was immaculate and, despite it being 'next door' to Sandals Barbados (with use of the restaurants etc on that side), we noticed no real division and having always wanted to visit Barbados, this is the place to stay. From simply having a wander about to walks along the beach and a couple of boat trips, we were never bored. Where else is it normal to drink Strawberry daiquiris at 10.30 after breakfast, at the bar, by the pool in the sun?! From room service morning coffee on the balcony, to lattes in the shade outside the Cafe de Paris , to breakfast on the rooftop at La Parisienne, to amazing steaks at both Butchs and Butchs Chophouse, we were spoilt for choice. We could not manage to get a table at Kimonos, despite having a butler, but were told it is definitely worth a try! Contrary to other reviews, we did not use our butlers to reserve sunbeds and had absolutely no problem at anytime throughout the day. The beach is immaculate and the whole stay was just lovely. We will most definitely return. TIP: Look up 'We Travel To' on Facebook - Gillian Ashwood knows her stuff! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lockdown at Sandals

Apr 25th, 2020

This review is somewhat different and details a stay during the second half of March 2020. I did not plan to go to Sandals, rather we were due to embark on a 14 day cruise which was cancelled the day before it was due to sail. We had already spent a week in Barbados and as our return flights were some three weeks away we requested our TA to secure accommodation else where on the Island. I had in the past stayed at the original Sandals in May 2015 and posted a rather mixed review which has received over 200 'likes'. This review comes out much better. I will comment little on the property which benefits from being both newer and better laid out compared to its neighbour. The major plus points must include the pools which are magnificent and the beach which has been fashioned to improve sea bathing (a major negative in my 2015 review). Restaurants are up to the high standard expected of Sandals and with 'dine-around' at the adjacent property more than sufficient in variety for a 14 night stay. Likewise Bars and ancillaries. Rooms are as usual excellent. The major points I would like to make pertains to management and staffing. We started with a far from full hotel and finished with barley a couple of dozen guests on the final day when the resort effectively closed. During this time the Sandal's experience continued undiminished with all staff continuing to ensure a perfect stay. The hotel Management was totally hands on with the Manager visiting guests individually and updating them on the situation. Altho restaurants gradually closed there was always expanded choices at those remaining open and all staff (with the knowledge of the closing down) still worked cheerfully to keep the guests fully entertained. The management of this hotel in unprecedented circumstances was little less than superb. As guests finally left, all were presented with food, toiletries and, of course, hand sanitizer for there onward travel home. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Enjoyable, but overpriced

Apr 11th, 2020

My husband I were just here the last week of May 2019. Weather was lovely - warm and sunny. This is a very safe Island and most guest will take a stroll into town - it's recommended. Pro: You have access to both resorts which does provide a lot of selection. Restaurant wise La Parisienne (French) and Bombay (Indian), and The Jerk Shake (local) provide top notch food. Sweet and Salty provides fabulous fresh donuts and good coffee. We were on the 5th floor so had a great view of the ocean and surrounding landscape. Our room was nicely designed, comfortable bed, with all the amenities we needed and more. We enjoyed the tranquility tub on our balcony. The beach was beautiful and the water warm for swimming (note: there was quite a bit of seaweed in the mornings that blew in overnight given the rougher waters on this side of the island, but they were prompt to clear it up). It's definitely a younger crowd at this resort. It's big enough that it never feels crowded - especially in the evenings. It's well manicured with beautiful flowers, foliage and green space - we really liked the layout. There's also so many activities on the resort itself to choose from (i.e. bowling ally, shuffle board, games room, loads of TVs in the sports bar if there's an event you want to catch), The roof-top pool and restaurant provides a great view! Overall the staff are friendly and welcoming throughout the resort. Cons: While we had over 18 restaurants to choose from between the 2 resorts, only a few really lived up to the standard Sandals advertises: Spices, for example, which is supposed to be local cuisine, was mostly american food. Chi had a very limited selection of sushi and the sashimi wasn't sashimi - we're not sure what it was. Butches was your standard stake house - nothing special. The services through Club Sandals was for the most part unhelpful. Any time we called down, the phone was rarely answered. In person, they weren't any more helpful, and at one point redirected my husband to the front lobby desk because "their computer was rebooting" - disappointing given it was a service we paid for. In our room, the carpet was stained and the door-jam was broken. You will need to be up by 5:45am to get a beach/pool spot (if you don't have Butler Service), the Butlers are out by 6am saving most of the spots for their guests (if you're an early riser, this won't be much of an issue). Drink service around the beach and pool was hit and miss - it really depended on the person working that day. On our 4th day we booked a private tour of the Island - we essentially ended up with a taxi ride around the Island, rather than a tour. While our driver took us to us to all the tourist sights, he didn't deliver on some of our specific requests and provided little commentary/background about the Island despite us telling him this was our interest. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back to the Island, just not via this resort given how much it costs. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
