After years of coming here....

Feb 18th, 2020

Had to call them 16 x and still no refund,I cancelled 4 days in advance. No one calls you back! And like another lady said, you ask for a handicap room and it's not handicap accessible at all! My mom fell in shower. The least you could do is refund my $161 TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Valentine's Weekend

Feb 18th, 2020

We had made reservations for the weekend. Had a wonderful trip, and starter here at the Sands. Wonderful casino, friendly staff & the stay won't break you. They have a Mel's Diner here....you can get a root beer float if you have the inkling😁😁 Beautiful inside & extra nice rooms! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good buffet but poor service, extra fees and unprofessional staff

Feb 14th, 2020

This place is surely trying to improve but needs to work harder. For instance, if a hotel advertises on Hotwire and says there’s a $75 credit card deposit plus a $17 “resort fee,” well that should be the truth. At the Sands, the actual fee for NOT USING the closed pool is actually $21, for which the hotel will charge your credit card $96 of which $21 is totally non-refundable. The idiot, rude desk clerk wrongly claimed that’s standard...nope. My favorite Reno hotel the Atlantis requires just a dollar credit card deposit. The Sands buffet was surprisingly good, but the rest of the facility is being renovated, and this isn’t a good neighborhood. Like I said, lots of work to do here. This place is cheap but if want a great stay, wait a few months (years?) till things improve...meanwhile look elsewhere. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing employees and managers

Feb 12th, 2020

While the hotel itself needed some work, the beds were clean and comfortable. And the employees were wonderful. As were the managers. We had a family crisis going on at the time and they were so supportive of all of us. Thank you Sands! You truly did have "smiles inside". TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Worth the money

Feb 11th, 2020

The hotel has 2 sides. Wasn't too happy the first time I stayed on the West end but when I went back the 2nd time and stayed on the East end (which is a little more) it was well worth it. The food at Mels Diner was good and worth the money as well. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
