Amazing afternoon tea

Feb 16th, 2020

We visited Sandy Lane for afternoon tea which I would definitely recommend. The hotel it’s self is stunning and set well back from the road and very private. The afternoon tea was amazing and offered a good selection of food and beautiful cakes. There was plenty to choose from and they packed up what we didn’t eat for us to take home. We weren’t rushed and we sat on the terrace afterwards and watched the sunset before leaving. I would definitely recommend it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The best

Feb 10th, 2020

My husband and I have just returned from another fabulous stay at Sandy Lane! we have been going for over 14 years now, and we just love it. Upon arrival at Grantley Adams you get escorted quickly through the airport, and, upon arrival at the hotel, you are welcomed by senior management. Check in is easy in your room, then the fun really starts! We have never had our bags unpacked, but after talking to other guests we so will next year. Rooms are lovely, everything you could want or need. The wonderful Michelle Babb knows our very favourite room, and we do tend to get it. The beach bar is a fun place. It’s a great to meet friends from previous years there, and the cocktails are fab. The monkey bar is indoors and is air conditioned, so lovely if the weather is a little too warm. The food at the hotel is the best in the island. Asian and West Indian buffets are a particular favourite. Breakfast is wonderful, anything and everything you could wish for. Acajou is a stylish, classy restaurant. KevIn, who looked after us there so, so well is adorable, and such a professional. The beach is just the best. You have your special place in the sun for the duration of your stay, no battling for sun beds.... no way, this is Sandy Lane. The spa area is so relaxing. Phillipa gave me two massages throughout my stay, and they were the best massages I have ever had anywhere. Huge thanks gain to Michelle Babb who is brilliant See you next year TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great, again

Feb 6th, 2020

An excellent return visit (5th time over 10 years). Everyone went out of their way to make our stay memorable and special. Especially, Hakeem and Takima in the bar, Kevin & team in L’Acajou were great. We have stayed in some seriously impressive beach (and other) hotels over the last 10 years. Yet, we can honestly say that SL still works better for us than any of these. Our very high expectations of SL were surpassed, again. We loved the the totally consistent level of attentive, warm service (from the booking experience with Linda and Theresa to checking out with champagne for the car). Thank you. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

What a waste of money!

Feb 3rd, 2020

So this is supposed to be the best hotel on the island? Thank goodness for Barbados, it’s not. Sandy Lane used to be the best of the best, today it is tired, the rooms need a serious refurb and the staff are all focussed on extracting the most amount of money from you at every step of the journey. Sandy Lane still plays on it’s reputation from the 90s when it really was the place to go. When you pay over $1000 a night for the cheapest room, you expect to be impressed. The food was seriously average (with the exception of the Sunday buffet, but that is expensive!), the staff rude and our room was miles away from the main areas meaning we had a long walk to go anywhere. The only thing still going for this hotel is the beautiful beach it is on, but then all beaches in Barbados are public, so you can go and visit anytime you like. Save yourself the pain, stay at the House, Cobblers Cove, Sandpiper or indeed the Fairmont. You’ll have a better experience and you’ll feel less ripped off when you leave as they’ll be half the price! I would love to think Sandy Lane can get back to being the hotel they once were, but they have a long way to go, so it’s not going to be any time soon! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
