Needs revision

My wife stays here frequently for business and raves about their service. I came to enjoy the same experience. It was one of the few highlights. It’s somewhat unfair to judge in the current covid environment, but they need more day to day staff. We noted glasses and trash in hallways for most of the day. Only food available is a Starbucks for morning/early afternoon, and then a pub for the rest of the day with limited menu. Facility itself appears in need of renovation with worn rugs and room interiors. Made use of bikes from towel hut and explored the property and immediate area. Exercise room is attached to the spa as an outbuilding in front of the hotel. It has a good mix of machines and weights. Hourly shuttle to their private beach club is convenient, with food available. It felt crowded around the beach pool, even with an empty hotel, unsure of what expect when in full swing. The beach club is also open as a private membership to the community. I don’t expect a reply from the facility, I’d rather have efforts put into increasing capital investment. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Checking out early

I was very much looking forward to our stay here at the Resort & Spa. What a disappointment. Charging top dollar and there are no services available. Spa closed. Only one pub opened from 2 Pm til 9pm with limited items to choose from ( bar food mostly). Wings were reheated. Wanted soup but bartender made a face when I ordered it- suggested we pick something else- chose salad - lettuce & tomato. Complimentary drink coupons- ordered a Tito’s and a Craft beer- coupons not valid- Smirnoff only and domestic draft—. Really- nickel and dime us when nothing is available at the resort and fee still being charged. Room not great- one bar of soap and a very small bottle of shampoo and conditioner. Nothing else. Supposed to be here a week. No housekeeping so at least leave a few amenities to last more than one day. Breakfast choice- Starbucks. Checking out in the morning and going to Ponte Vedra Inn. Same price and better vibe. This place is very depressing- not what we’re looking for. This was a waste of almost 400 for a night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Didn’t feel like a Marriott

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful however the hotel rooms needed to be updated. We initially were booked on the first floor but with low ceilings, it felt like the basement so they moved us to the 5th floor. The room was ok, fridge worked great, Netflix was advertised on TV but didn’t work, beds were small (they felt like full size beds, not queens), pillows were flat and we were only given one bar of soap. The curtains had what appeared to be slashes or cuts in them with a dark stain (see images) Although we were close to the elevator, the room was quiet. In room coffee was not good, thankfully Starbucks on site in the lobby was great with fresh coffee each morning. We took advantage of the bike rental (first hour included in the resort fee) but not much else due to time. The pool on site looked nice with towel service. We never made it to the beach club. If I had to choose, I would stay elsewhere next time. Maybe the Hilton Garden Inn across the street. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Doing well despite COVID-19 challenges

Stayed four days during the second week of June 2020. Hotel staff was ALL friendly and helpful. Obviously operating with a skeleton crew, they did try hard to be as accommodating as possible despite the constraints. I asked for a quiet room away from the elevators and ice machines. They gave us exactly what I asked for except our neighbors were very loud. Not the hotel's fault. No valet service, not much of a "resort" experience, but still charging a resort fee for sure. There is a parking lot for guests, but everybody parked on the roundabout, some ON the sidewalk, making it difficult to get to the parking lot without having to walk in the road. Please work on getting these guests to park in the proper area, at least get them off the sidewalk. No housekeeping during our stay. As a result, we saw bags of garbage sitting outside rooms for up to an entire day. It was surreal. We took any small bags of garbage to the garbage cans near the main elevators because we didn't want it sitting outside our door. We also brought our own water bottles and used the filtered water station on the main level near the lobby. When we needed new towels, all we had to do was ask for them at the front desk. It wasn't a big deal. In terms of a sanitary environment, I'd have to say Sawgrass Marriott could do a better job. Our floors, especially the closet area, had dust and hair. The bathroom tub had hair in it. This is not acceptable if the hotel is limiting housekeeping during our stay. I expected that our room would be spotless since it is only cleaned in between stays. We enjoyed our stay because the hotel staff was great, our room was reasonably comfortable, the location cannot be beat, and the beautiful grounds are one of a kind. Also the patio area was such a relaxing place. We only had access to one pub inside the resort, but I would not recommend spending any money there since the service was ridiculously rude. Instead, we enjoyed the patio in the evenings, lounging with the other guests and drinking our wine that we bought at the nearby liquor store. Also, great restaurants were within walking distance! Thanks for a mostly pleasant stay, we will be back for another visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Newly reopened after Covid-19 closing. Reopening left a lot to be desired.

My wife and I arrived Monday June 8 and will depart in morning of Thursday June 11. The hotel "reopened" last week, but is is a partial reopening with lots of rough spots. The staff normally is about 550. Fifty were recalled for the partial reopening, but 500 have not been recalled. There is no valet parking. The only food service is at Alice & Peet's Pub, which a limited pub menu. There is no room service (towels, etc.), but one can get fresh towels,etc. at the front desk. The staff is friendly and helpful, as they always have been. The message here is that hotels, restaurants, etc that closed due to coronavirus shutdowns) may have a tough time coming up to speed are returning to prior level of service. We stayed because of medical procedure at the nearby Mayo Clinic Florida, which was a necessity. My wife and I probably will not do any traveling until sometime in the fall. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
