Fabulous Resort

Jan 11th, 2020

Stayed here in June for a week and it was a lovely location with everything you need on site. There was a variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner with fresh juices being made for you and omelettes, pizza and pastas etc! There was also authentic giros everyday which you can make up yourself with pitta breads and a selection of salad and sauces. The pool bar was great with nearly all cocktails included, but would advise you get there early for a sunbed so you can get a nicely located one. The view from every area of the sea was amazing. Would definitely recommend! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely Hotel Spoilt by Room Allocations

Jan 8th, 2020

Firstly let me say Sea Side Resort is an amazing place. It is set in a stunning location, stupendous views, great food and amazing staff. Special thanks to Stella in the main buffet restaurant who was the 'stand out' member of staff on our holiday. But a word of caution - the hotel appeared to running at 100% capacity, and we didn't get our sea view room with infinity pool, ending up in a small satellite development a 10 minute walk down the hill leaving us feeling very remote & detached from the main hotel. It was clear during our stay that we weren't the only ones that were shortchanged and we received very little sympathy from the senior hotel staff (IAndreas the general manager & Maria the customer relations manager spring to mind). My suggestion is tread very carefully when booking, & even when you get an email from them promising the room you have booked, be prepared for dissappointment. The all inclusive cocktails/spirits seemed to be very week. You're not allowed to take drinks back to your room (we noticed the staff challenging guests who did this) but they only put a couple of bottles of water in your room fridge which seems a bit stingy when all inclusive. They have three speciality restaurants - Jasmine & Kullinarium are superb, the Minoan Cretan Tavern less so - suggest you book these on your first day at breakfast, as they do get booked up pretty quickly and we saw some guest trying to book who were left disappointed. Aquafitness in the main pool was a daily event at midday and was great fun!!! The entertainent was really good, and we particularly enjoyed the Greek Dancing Night. Not a huge amount to do locally near the hotel, but there is a small beach with an amazing tavern(Stelios Tavern) which is worth a visit to break the monotony of hotel dining every night. There is a local bus service from right outside the hotel which runs to Heraklion which is really worth doing and very cheap & reliable. The hotel has a "no towels on sunbeds" rule which they don't enforce, and we got up early one morning (6am) to photograph the sunset and were shocked to see that a lot of towels were already on sunbeds. There are some lovely cats/kittens around the site, and quite of few of the guests smuggle food out of the buffet restaurant to feed them. Standard of cleaning in rooms was good and the quality of the rooms was high. In summary, staying here is a bit of a lottery, if you get what you have booked it will deliver in spades, but you won't know until you arrive in reception. Maybe it is only a handful of peoples holidays that they spoil, but unfortunately we were one of them. All the staff were amazing apart from Andreas & Maria. We will not be returning which is shame, as we really really wanted to come back, but cannot take the gamble. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fantastic stay!

Dec 9th, 2019

Such as fantastic stay, would highly recommend to anyone looking for some time away to relax and rest. Enjoyed a room with shared pool which (although the pool was a bit soulless) we really enjoyed. Family pool a big hit (with smoke free zone. Not a fan of thalassos bar again because of SO MANY SMOKERS! Georgio’s (restaurant manager) at the restaurant was a real hero and made our stay a wonderful especially as my wife can’t eat dairy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

3 Generation relaxing break

Nov 14th, 2019

Amazing food, helpful staff, clean rooms. The chilled atmosphere suited us. I had to push my elderly mother up some rather steep ramps and slopes but it was navigable. So lovely we plan to go back next year. We were a teen (loved the wifi), couple, elderly mum. Only criticism was that we booked a twin room for my daughter and I and got one massive bed and one narrow and short bed - my teen is taller than I am and it just wasn’t comfortable. Relaxing

Nov 4th, 2019

This is a lovely hotel with excellent views, especially from the Thallasso Pool. The staff couldn't be more helpful and polite; with a special mention for Eleftharia and to the boys who drive the golf carts around the resort to assist you from one place to another. Our room was very comfortable and spacious (we had a junior suite) with the only downside being the 'mini-bar' which didn't have any drinks in it apart from 2 small bottles of water each day...which is pretty surprising for a 5* all-inclusive resort! Perhaps they could tune in to at least one British entertainment travel on the TV too, not just the news. The food was absolutely excellent, we didn't even feel the need to try the extra restaurants on site. Breakfast couldn't have offered more choice. The hotel is a little bit out of the way, but has great amenities. If you're stuck you could always take a taxi into the next town of course, and the beach was an easy downhill walk (with tavernas) although it was a bit of a trudge getting back up to the hotel lower lift afterwards. All in all though, we had a fabulous time! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
