Great Little Gem during a Great Getaway!
Jan 26th, 2021
What a great little hotel. Yes, renovations are on-going here, but the great staff, perfect beach views, and loads of friends made this a wonderful getaway for the Scottish Society of Charleston members. We were having our annual Burns Supper on the Isle of Palms and Matt and the staff made staying here easy and worry-free. We had plenty of hot water, plenty of towels, crisp linens, a refrigerator, and a microwave. Everything one could hope for. Give them a chance to show you all they have already done, and to tell you all they are doing to improve the hotel. It's a great little gem! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
NEEDS RENOVATIONS VERY BADLY!
Nov 30th, 2020
The location IS right on the beach, but next door to the VFW (loud partying until late) and two down from Papi's Bar and Grille, with a loud, rooftop party bar. Not a quiet sty until WAAY after midnight. The rooms are clean, but very small, and the bathroom is tiny. However, great shower pressure and plenty of hot water. The HVAC unit hadn't had the filter cleaned since Moses was in high school--yuk. Th Keurig was a plus, but only Breakfast Blend offered--bring your own favorite K-cups, and no half-and-half (I admit...I'm a coffee snob), so bring some. The pull handle to close the sink drain was too close to the back of the sink itself, so THAT didn't work. The beds were very firm, as I like, but my wife thought too firm. If you're lucky enough to get a parking space on the ground beneath the building, you'll have real problems getting in and out if you have a truck or a full-sized car, though the lot right across the street was free (off-season, though). Pre-packaged breakfast snacks are included--meh--in the lobby. Only 6 rooms actually face the ocean, so ask for one of these is you want ''ocean view,'' as the others face the VFW one way and the next door building the other. Easy access to the beach on a well-kept boardwalk, with a shower along the way. Staff was friendly enough, though we NEVER saw any housekeeping personel during our 4-day stay. Microwave and fridge are in good working order. The room smelled slightly musty. If you're interested (we weren't), the TV is dinky. Location is its redeeming feature, being 'downtown' IOP but, as above, LOUD sandwiched between the partying. They are planning a renovation--long overdue, I say. Two dots only. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
The great beach makes up for a worn hotel
Oct 26th, 2020
Friendly staff and a great beach make up for the hotel's shortcomings. This is in a great location on a excellent beach and you'll need to spend much of your time there to avoid staying in rooms that are dated and a bit worn down. Parking is tight on the property itself but there's another lot across the street. There are a few decent restaurants nearby but for the most part the best part of this island is the beaches. The rooms are worn, cramped and dated. The bathrooms are basic and worn but ours worked okay. There is a bit of a privacy issue in that each room is outdoor facing and only has mini blinds to cover the window. The blinds are worn and don't always completely close so anybody walking by can see in easily and the daylight isn't always kept completely out. In our double bed unit, the bed closest to the window was just inches from the hard blowing A/C which made it a bit cold for that person to sleep. The TVs are not HiDef but the WiFi works well even if cell service is a bit spotty. They did still offer a limited free breakfast despite the pandemic and the staff is very friendly and helpful. For the price, you get a basic accommodation on a good beach. Not a bad option. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
DO NOT STAY HERE!!
Oct 26th, 2020
Room was small and musty smelling. No hot water in bathroom sink; we requested ocean front room; ocean view consisted of a bare corner at the far end of the hotel. Spotty cell phone coverage. Parking was far away from hotel. But the worst issue was music BLASTING at the club next door. Their webpage borders on false advertising. Worst experience EVER at a beach hotel. WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We stayed in Seaside Inn. I did discuss my complaints with the manager prior to leaving & she said she would follow up. We were very disappointed in the room. It was outdated. The paint on the wall was scuffed & peeling. You could see the under layer of the paint previously used. The drain in the tube was slow & water backed up. The floor was disgusting. It was stained, dirty, & had trash from previous lodgers, including pistachio shells. I laid a bag of ice on the floor & when I picked it up, there was dirt all on it. There was not an ice bucket or machine (that is a first for us). There was not a deadbolt on the door (another first for us) & it didn't really feel like the door locked, although you could not enter from the outside when we tried. I think it is disgusting to have a plunger & toilet brush in the room. The idea of touching a device that has touched a strangers excrement is not hygienic & gross! There were COVID restrictions for the elevator, that included social distancing & use of a mask, but I never saw that it was cleaned. There were the same finger & hand prints on the stainless steel (until the 3rd day that we were there). There was what appeared to be a smear of blood on the wall that was there everyday we were there. We were assigned to 210a. We were using the parking space for 210. Another car ended up parking there (assuming it was the people for 210). Why is there not a space for each? The bed was not made. Clean towels were provided & trash was changed. I rode up the elevator with a housekeeper, who was not masked or following guidelines for single family use (honestly, I don't care about that, but if lodgers are expected to follow the rules, shouldn't employees, as well?). What I did not appreciate was the loud rap music from his phone, talking about "female dogs" several times. He did turn it off when he got on the elevator, but it was very audible from the parking lot. The best thing was the ceiling fan in our room( a 1st for us). The Coastal restaurant was not good quality food. Very dry & bland. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
