Good Trip with Great Staff

Mar 4th, 2021

Overall, we had a nice trip! The water was incredible! The staff at Secrets was also great! They are all very friendly and helpful, especially Isabel. She was our absolute favorite!! The hotel itself needs some TLC and the food, although better at Secrets than Sunscape next door, still wasn't as good as it had been in year's past. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

sub-par food but GREAT staff!!

Mar 3rd, 2021

If not for the staff I am not sure we would ever return. Eddy, Johnny, Brittany, Darwin make this resort decent. The food is below average. The resort condition is average. The room is ok. The staff in lobby and around the resort are trying there hardest to make it worth while. unfortunately I just don't think we will be returning for a wedding. I had hopes of being married here as I so enjoyed our first visit (reason for second visit) but my fiancé just really did not care for the food. We went as far as to go into town to eat so we could get hot food!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Water is amazing

Mar 2nd, 2021

The water is amazing here! We stayed at Secrets Aura, in the preferred section, but had access to both Secrets and the sister hotel, Sunscape, next door. We found Secrets to be ok. It could definitely use some upkeep. The preferred section didn't really seem like anything special. Our room had a slight view of the ocean, which was great. What was not great was being by a restaurant, where they started working at 3am 😳 We were woken up every morning by the typical sounds of a restaurant. We were also supposed to have an ocean front room...so....🤷‍♀️ The staff, as always, were very pleasant and very helpful. That is one of the main reasons we like going to Secrets. We would stay here again with our free nights...not sure we would spend the money for the regular cost though. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not worth the price

Mar 1st, 2021

We stayed here to do a wedding tour and we will probably not be doing our wedding here after our visit. Our room had issues with hot water in our shower and it never got hot. Also we had an issue with the plumbing backing up in our toilet, we heard several loud burb noises coming from the bathroom early in the morning and our drain in our bathroom floor ended up backing up and spilling into our bathroom floor. The room also started to smell like septic. We called the front desk 3 times to get someone to fix it but no one came. Finally, I asked to speak to a manager and he was able to get us transferred to another room almost 4 hours later. Second issue we had was the food was all delicious but it was all served way too cold. Barely luke warm. Not acceptable for a resort that charges upwards of $500.00 per night for some rooms and advertises itself as 5 stars. We will not be staying here again and we will be choosing a different location for our wedding. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Couples only all inclusive

Second time here. Love it. Very clean and terrific food. Bordeaux restaurant had excellent seafood and service. Because of covid the buffet situation is minimal so you end up ordering from the menu with wait time on receiving food much longer for dinner at the market place restaurant. Eat early and head up to the skybar via the stairs now. Catch incredible sunsets. 8:30 is live shows. We stayed ocean front my market restaurant so it was a bit louder due to sunscape resort next doors entertainment of live music till about 10:30. Which we would go see, there isn’t a distinction between resorts. Get up early by around 7:30 to reserve beach tiki loungers. They are served with limited menu of hamburger nachos ceviche and wings also drinks of course with wait times for good 30 min and drink about 15 min. Plenty of time to go snorkeling. Tons of beautiful fish, eel, squid, urchins, and lobster. Diving here is PHENOMENAL 84$ for two dives per person, one deep and shallow, dove with palancar diving at resort. Don’t leave any jewelry out. My cheap bracelet was gone from our counter. Use the safe. When arriving at airport past customs head straight out the doors. People will try to sell you on a breakfast sales pitch. Transportation and margaritas are right outside the doors. Rent a Jeep and travel the island. Coconuts beach bar restaurant has great views, rum company in town has free samples! Punta Sur has great snorkeling further out and excellent views and tequila tasting at least when we were there 2 years ago. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
