Fabulous stay

Jul 16th, 2019

Lovely hotel. As we sit at the airport waiting for our flight home below a review of the hotel and our 2 weeks in Mexico. On arrival you are greeted with a cold towel and a glass of bubbly, checked in and taken to the most beautiful room. We had a swim up room with was lovely. The terraces don’t get a lot of sun but after a day in the sun they are lovely to relax in before dinner. We had a turn down service which was also lovely but did get missed maybe 3 nights and on our last night which was a shame. The rooms are equipped with everything you need. If you need anything extra a call to room service and it’s with you within minutes. Room service is completely free and an absolutely must even ifs it just once. You don’t even have to see anyone As you can order on your in room iPads and they will put the food in your own secret box. Restaurants are lovely and the food is great quality. Our favourites where the asian and the French restaurant. The breakfast is great and there is a lot of choice. There is free paddle boarding, kayaking and boat trips which are all free and included. We didn’t find out this was included until our second week through people we got talking to which is a shame they don’t tell you on check in. The pool service is great, someone on hand if you would like a drink, there’s also a pool food menu with you can ask the waiters for to order throughout the day and they will bring to your sunbed. There are also free floats around the pool for anyone to use. They bring round cold towels, water and offer a sunglasses cleaning service (free of charge) once a day aswell. Long trousers do have to be worn in the evening to the restaurants and no vests for the men at breakfast they are strict on this aswell. Although men have to wear trousers but somehow can still wear a baseball cap for dinner?!? The only disappointment is the coco cafe. It’s meant to be a 24hour snack bar but you are lucky to get a sandwich or bagel at any point of the day. Milkshakes are also on the menu but if they have no icecream up there you can’t have one. You can get ice cream around the pool from the outside Resturant’s. Again this is something that isn’t easy to find it’s only once you no it’s available and how you can get it. This is our first adults only hotel and we was a little worried it would be too quite. But there is so much to do everyday there is a list of activities around the pool and every evening there is always more than one thing going on. You can either go to the live shows and watch the entertainment or you can relax to live music in the lobby. We would definitely return here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Attentive Staff, Updated Rooms and More!

Jul 16th, 2019

My husband and I spent 7 nights this Summer at Secrets Maroma. After staying at a few others over the years (Secrets Wild Orchid just back in October) we had many things to compare and this hotel did not disappoint in anyway. To start off - YES there is seaweed. YES they do everything they possibly can to clean it up. Enjoy your vacation!! We started off in a Junior Suite Partial Ocean View room (building 14). Beautiful room but the view is exactly as described and as we expected: Partial. With the tall palm trees throughout the resort you might want to consider it a Garden View. I like the Preferred Club rooms for the Location on the property, so I took some pictures and we upgraded as usual. Hello, Honeymoon Beach Front Master Suite Swim Up. Our new room - Beach Front, large (shared) pool, building 17 and steps from the beach and beach bar. We've stayed in Master Suites in the Secrets brand before and it was pretty much the same layout. Living room separate from bedroom, large bathroom, huge double rain head shower, and direct access to the pool. We used our Secrets box for room service and took the cordless phone with us outside for convenience in the event the Concierge called regarding a request we put in, or if we needed something. The rooms are all updated so the bed was new and a little firm for my liking, but not terrible. Pros: The Staff is some of the best we've encountered at Secrets by far. Everyone was friendly, outgoing, and willing to accommodate as needed. The beach bar staff worked to please everyone and surprised us with shots to try or a drink of the day to see what we thought. (please tip your waiters!) House keeping worked well around when we were in the room, or when we'd request them to come by a certain time. There is a pool/beach concierge that will help you find a chair if need be. The pool bar was not super crowded like some places and getting a drink was not difficult. The Restaurants we tried: Himitsu (menu and Hibachi), Portofino, El Patio and Seaside Grill were all good (I'm picky and not a foodie so dinner can be difficult sometimes for me). Some of the hotel hotels vary by country, but this resort seemed to have something for everyone and I was pleased with each dish. There was entertainment each night somewhere throughout the resort. The Lobby Bay, Rendezvous, was excellent and a great spot to grab a drink before or after dinner. It didn't feel like a "lobby bar." Cons: (if any...these are a stretch to make it here and just my personal preference!) We were in building 17 - the Preferred Club Lounge is on the complete opposite side of the resort. We never used the Lounge just because it was out of the way and easier to hit a bar/snacks elsewhere. If you use the Preferred Club Lounge, request buildings 25 or 26 for the PC Junior Suites, and building 27 for the higher Suites. The towel game - so many chairs with just towels on them and no one in sight. Ask the Concierge and they'll move things after a certain time of it being "unused". If you're using your chairs, make it look like you are actually using them with a book, flip flops, etc. or you may lose your chair. (On the other hand, if you're in the pool all day and not using them, don't take up multiple chairs for no reason at all). Seaweed - the first 3-4 days it was really bad. They cleaned it up all day and piled it at the far end of the beach, then trucked it out. Over night on Wednesday it was almost gone. We were able to spend the last 1/2 of the trip being beach bums. It is still in the surf though so you have to swim through it if you get in the water. **Tips: If you have to leave the resort earlier than breakfast is served - Call Room Service the night before and place your order and set a time. We had it delivered at 5:45am and was right on time. The Wine Cellar - extra charge for this private dinner - you can order off the French or Italian menu. For an added charge, you can set you own menu. Dinner on the Beach - extra charge - they offer this in the lighted raised huts on the beach. It's beautiful and you don't get full of sand at dinner! Shout out to Mariano!! Our awesome building concierge in building 17 who was available for anything we needed and double checked after we requested anything. He asked about our plans for the week and followed back up when we'd come "home" to see how our day was. Thank You for your hospitality! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

AMAZING!!! WONDERFUL HOTEL

Jul 16th, 2019

Arrived with my wife to celebrate our 30 year anniversary. The hotel facilities are amazing and I can't say enough good things about the staff. Everyone is willing to assist you and are very friendly. Booked the Honeymoon suite and the room is very spacious and all the amenities that you need. Big 2 person walk in shower and also 2 person bath. There are several people that I would like to mention who definitely made us feel special: At the Sea side restaurant Mr. Daniel, restaurant manager. This gentleman sure has a great working crew and is very knowledgeable when it comes to wine and the various dishes that you can choose from. He offered and we accepted to prepare us a special dinner by the pool side and along with Chef Vanesa they sure made it special. The Chef also prepared our Romantic dinner on the beach and I can assure you that besides being a great Chef, she is a very nice lady who puts her heart at work to ensure that guests feel welcomed and appreciated. Mr. Rodolfo at the Sea side restaurant served our table and he too is an excellent waiter that does everything he can to ensure that you are satisfied. Deserts are wonderful and must be tried, Isabel who works with Chef Vanesa can sure surprise you with some unexpected flavor contrast that you never imagined. For our romantic dinner on the beach the two waiters that served us that night were Efrain and Adrian, two young men that made the dinner even more special. Every dish was presented well along with an explanation and although there had been a slight mistake with one of the dishes, it took them no time to resolve the situation. Even while just standing by the pool a young employee called Sofia approached me without asking and asked me if everything was OK and if there was anything that she could do. The customer service and support is well above and beyond at this hotel. We scheduled an excursion and was well informed by Mauricio from AMSTAR as to what they offered and we decided to take the Mayan city tour along with scuba diving and visiting the Celotes, highly recommended tour for a day. Last but not least important, I want to thank Ms. Arely Gutierrez, wedding specialits who organized everything so we could renew our vows on the beach. Ms Arely not only providing prompt email communication before our arrival but ensured that all aspects were covered and well explained prior to our ceremony which will be memorable for day s to come. As a closing remark, don't even question it if you are planing a vacation and want a hotel "Adults only", this hotel will exceed your expectations and you will return some day, jus like we will. Thank you all for making our wedding anniversary even more special!!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
