Sisters trip to remember

May 20th, 2019

I do not review unless it is necessary. This resort is one of a kind. We chose preferred club with a Butler. We won the lottery. We were so well taken care of. Tajae our Butler is more of best friend than a butler. He was so kind and made our sister trip one of a kind. We were hesitant about the butler option but please request him. He is now a part of our family. We wish him and his family could come home with us. Hope in the preferred lounge you are such a sweetheart and Patrick our life guard always looking out for us. My sister and I needed a relaxing break and we won the lottery here. Our girls in the spa were also amazing. If you are looking for great food, snorkeling, relaxation, close to airport than look no further. We know we will be back thanks to Tajae. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing resort w/ just a few hiccups

May 20th, 2019

Everything was amazing except the mini bar didn't include any liquor....just 3 kinds of soda, water & a few cans of beers so you have to walk to a bar every time you want a drink. And the only sodas you can get at the entire resort is Coke, Sprite & Orange fanta. I found Pepsi's at excursion places though! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice resort and loved the amenities

May 20th, 2019

We stayed at Secrets St. James for a week, and the staff was great. I attended the yoga classes M-F with instructor Leah Husk of Leah Husk Fitness of Richmond, VA, and they were great and such a great way to start my day! We enjoyed movie nights with popcorn and ice cream, Speaking Jamaican and Jamaican Jerk cooking class with Ms. Love & Chef (they were so amazing and the lamb was so great we plan to make soon!), The Jerk carts have the best food for lunch or a pool side snack, and depending on the day it is chicken or pork. Be sure to bring a couple of dollars to tip these guys! You have access to all 3 pools, and the beaches are always clean with plenty of chaise loungers to select from, and they offer kayaks, snorkeling, scuba & glass bottom boat rides. They offer plenty of games around the pools everyday, and the bartenders are so fun and prepare great drinks! Breakfast and lunch are buffet style, and you have 5 restaurants to choose from for dinner, which are decent. You can wear most anything to breakfast and lunch, but for dinner no swimsuits or cover-ups, but you do not have to be super dressed up. As a woman I wore a casual dress or crop pants, and my husband wore dress shorts and a tee or polo shirt. Oh, and if you decide to order room service because you are worn out from your excursions, know that delivery will take about an hour, and the delivery person is very sweet - remember to tip his as well! Enjoy your stay! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

week of paradise in Jamaica

May 20th, 2019

Stayed May 12-19, couple both age 57 celebrating a birthday and wedding anniversary, Check in was slow, but Schan was very helpful and took us on a tour while we awaited our room being ready, which it was by 2:30 and it was exactly as booked, an Oceanfront suite with King bed. Went to main pool, swim up bar not fully stocked and one server up and down the stairs to get your drinks, very slow. Lots of activities at this pool. Beach was nice, except the few days we had jelly fish, and the only thing the staff did to warn us was put up a purple flag....lots of people got stung. Never a problem getting chairs on the beach. Drink service on beach was slow. After 3 days of jelly fish, moved up to the preferred pool, also fairly easy to get a chair. Drink service at pool was good. Have been to 2 Secrets before so knew what to expect for restaurants.... Portifino Italian was not up to par as others. Blue Mountain Jamaican was very good, We ate at Altutudes rooftop restuaraunt twice, at Breathless, it was very good and the view amazing. Also ate breakfast at their buffet as it was smaller and less busy than St James one. only 3 choices for lunch, Barefoot Grill, very limited menu, Seaside Grill, good salads, and of course the amazing Jerk Chicken cart. The staff all made us feel comfortable and welcomed.... With St. James, Wild Orchard and Breathless all together, we had many options for pool, beach and eat, which was nice. We celebrated my birthday and wedding anniversary while there, with banners on the door, cake, champagne, fruit, cheese and crackers and wine in the room, very nice touch. Was a wonderful hot week, only rained the afternoon we arrived for about 1/2 hour and of course after we left hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
