Serious staffing problems, not worth the money

Jul 5th, 2020

Some people at the hotel are not very happy to get back to work, you can hear complaints from hotel employees about not having the proper staffing. Unhappy staff = bad service = unhappy customers. Most people do not respect social distancing as no one at the hotel enforces it. Only one or two restaurants are open, most of the time you need to go to the restaurants at the Now (the hotel next to Secrets) and they are very very crowded, you have to wait in line for at least one hour, and forget about social distancing. Very disorganized staff, no one knows what time restaurants open, every one tells you a different time, and in the official information sheet the time is wrong. Oceana usually opened an hour late and closed right on time, once we arrived 10 minutes late and they didn’t let us in. Staff at the snack take your order and gives it to any random people, so you have to reorder every now and then Bryan a member of the concierge team told us he did reservations for us, when we showed up for the restaurant, reservations were not done. Room service was very late, after 3pm, out of the 5 days of our stay they did the service only once. Also they ignore the do not disturb sign and they keep knocking until you open. There are a lot of mosquitoes at the restaurants even the ones that are inside, so watch out for dengue No valet parking due to covid, parking is a mess. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Solo Vacation

Jul 5th, 2020

First of all, I’m an essential healthcare worker, and I’ve worked in the LA trenches nonstop for monthssssss so the minute I heard Puerto Vallarta was open I began my search for resorts specifically that we’re all inclusive and all adult. Secrets hands down had the BEST reviews and I sually read reviews on multiple travel sites before booking. I booked my shuttle with Amstar that promptly waited for me. I was welcomed with champagne upon arrival and Esmeralda was great after I checked in. I had a spa date and my masseuse lady was phenomenal! Idk what the essential oil she used, but it had a wonderful tingle and smelled like mandarins!! The hydrotherapy pool after was also so relaxing that I skipped going out for dinner, and ordered room service! Soooo good! Breakfast my last day was also room service! The final day I was poolside and wanted a pina colada but the bar wasn’t opened just yet. Noeh was laying down towels at an adjacent chair near me and offered to grab me two pinas at the manatee bar and brought them to me so I wouldn’t have to go to the swim up bar! I mean.... just book the trip you guys! You deserve it after being quarantined!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A wonderful experience!

We stayed at Secrets Vallarta Bay in mid January 2020. This was our second visit to Secrets Puerto Vallarta. The resort is located a very short drive from the airport. We stayed in an Oceanview preferred club room. . The resort is about a 20 minute very enjoyable and safe walk right to the downtown and Malecon in Puerto Vallarta. There is also a new shopping center that was also about a 20 minute walk in the opposite direction. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at this resort! We ate at all of the property restaurants and enjoyed all of them thoroughly. We especially enjoyed the food at lunch. There was quite a variety with the chefs even recreating some of the street food – we loved the shrimp on a stick! One evening we had a Mexican coffee. All I can say is just get it. Enjoy the drink but enjoy the fire show to create it even more! We feel compelled to mention the staff in the review and we do so because it almost felt like family. Fernanda Trejo was our concierge at the preferred club. She would take the time to help my wife with her Spanish and even hugged her on our last day. Benny was the out-of-this-world bartender in the preferred club. If you want something, just ask Benny – he knows everything. Raul was our breakfast waiter at the Market Café. He gave us suggestions on what to get every day. I might add great ones. On our last day he had special platter made wishing us a happy return. When you are seated for breakfast make sure you are in Raul’s section. Finally, Aldo was a jack of all trades and master of all of them. He conducted an excellent fitness class, was a superb teacher in the Spanish class and went over and above our expectations during the beach walk. Would we come back? The obvious answer is most definitely. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
