Lied About Beach Access

Jul 23rd, 2019

Cons: 7 Mile BEACH resort is NOT ON A BEACH! When I booked this property, I misled with the name of the resort and the photos. As I researched further and read other reviews, I realized it was NOT ON THE BEACH. I contacted the hotel about 45 days before check in, to cancel. They only offered a 50% refund. Since I cannot afford to pay for two hotels, I decided to stay. According to the website, the beach is a short walk on the side of the hotel. Well, when we arrived, we were told the water was too high and not accessible. We were now going to have to haul our stuff through another hotel, to get to the beach. This was a total LIE. It was obvious there was never beach access. There are concrete steps, covered with slippery algae, into a ROCKY area. NO SAND, NO BEACH, NO BEACH ACCESS. On top of this already disappointing beginning, the fan on the balcony did not work, the microwave did not work and the freezer had a leak, so there was not enough ice being made. PROS: The room is spacious and very clean. It is a little outdated, but nice enough. To compensate for the broken microwave, we received a counter top microwave the next day. The ceiling fan was replaced the next day. The washer/dryer is nice to have. The pool was very nice. Big and clean. There is a restaurant across the street and the Marriott has 3 restaurants, just two hotels down. This CONDO, not resort, would have received an average rating if not for the fact that I was LIED to. Renovated and spacious, but not on the beach

Jun 26th, 2019

Alright, so I just want to set everyone straight with my review, because my husband and I were a little bit deceived based on the hotel's description and based on fellow reviewers. First, I'll start out with the positive aspects. We absolutely loved the unit. It was my husband and my in-laws, and we got a 2 bedroom unit with a deck. It appeared to be newly renovated, and it was very spacious...let me repeat: very spacious. When you're staying with your in-laws, this is of utmost importance for your sanity (and theirs). There was a washer/dryer, microwave, oven, hair dryer, iron, stove top, all necessary dishware/cookware and 2 full bathrooms. The AC was amazing and kept us feeling nice and chilly throughout the night. The pool and hot tub were decent, and there aren't too many units in the complex, so the noise wasn't abominable. On the downside, from the pics and complex's descriptors, you get the impression that its beach front property. It isn't. There is a building in front of this complex, so you can't even see the ocean. Also, the "beach" in front of the building I front of this complex is pretty non-existent. To access the beach, you have to walk through the Comfort Suites and enter through their walkway. There are no beach chairs (that we found) that are affiliated with this beach. We ended up snagging chairs from the Marriott and other nearby resorts. So, if you are set on staying at a beach front resort, this is not it. I will say though, that the facility is very nice and we were very happy with our accommodations. We were a little disappointed because we had been hoping for beach access, with beach chairs, but this was not the case. If you don't necessarily care about beach access, then this is def the place to go. Tip: do not shop at Kirk's Market for groceries unless you have a total disregard for money. It is ridiculously overpriced. If you want to get a lot of groceries for the week, go to the IGA. It is a ways away, and you'll need a car, but the prices are about 1/3 of the cost. Well equipped holiday apartment, great setting

Jun 18th, 2019

Firstly the staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. The apartments are not too far away from Georgetown, so if you fancy a bit of a stroll, it's only a 20 minute walk. The beach is only approx. 50yds away, but unfortunately the steps down had been damaged by a storm, so you need to be careful. The apartment was excellent, it was light and bright and airy. The AC was a welcome relief to the heat of the day. The kitchen was well equipped. The furniture is a little dated but I believe they are re-furbishing the place bit by bit. The pool area is clean and there are plenty of sun loungers. Beware of the jacuzzi (hot tub) - it's hot! Overall, I could not fault it but would like to see them put more recycling bins in. For such a small island, this should be a priority. Don't bother with taxi's, they are expensive, instead use the local buses. $2 per person and they are all air conditioned. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

NICE

Apr 11th, 2019

Went here on an excursion from a cruise and it was a nice day. Water was fantastic! Next time though, I will get a beach chair away from the water and all of the screaming children! Had a great day, nonetheless. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great time!

Mar 31st, 2019

We stayed at 7 mile beach resort in March, for a 60th birthday celebration. Our party consisted of children and adults in their 30's, 40's and 60's and we all had a great time on the property. The unit: is clean. Even though the pictures of the unit look dated, I would attribute this to poor lighting, the unit looked better than the pictures. Everything was functioning well , stove, oven, fridge, dishwasher, washer and dryer. We cooked at home several nights, used the bbq and ate out the rest of the nights. They provide you with dish soap, dishwasher tabs and paper towels, which is not always provided with these types of rental. You need to bring your own laundry detergent. ( we usually travel with a few tide pods from home to make it easier). Housekeeping came 3 times per week. They also provide 6 beach towels in the unit. Each room has a tv. The patio was fenced in by a screen, which made it great to enjoy especially at night. Pool: The pool area was very nice. Once again nicer than the pictures posted by the property. We could always find a seat. They had water aerobics in the morning, if you wanted to participate. Resort Activities: There is a bulletin board at the pool area, where they post their weekly activities. Depending on how many people sign up, determines if they will have the activity or not. While we were there, there was the welcome dinner buffet on Monday night and a movie night. Beach: as the other reviews mentioned, the beach right behind the resort has washed away. Depending on the time of day and the tide, there may be a small strip of sand visible, otherwise you need to walk in ankle deep water for a few meter to get to an area where you can sit. We always walked along the beach past the marriott and found a great spot. There are also chairs available. (This was less than a 5 minute walk. You can walk along the beach or on the street and follow one of the numerous public beach access signs). Transport: Taxis can get pretty expensive, since they also charge per person they are transporting. We mostly stayed local within walking distance. Camana Bay is about 15 minute walk away. It has many nice restaurants and a nice shopping area. We rented a car from across the street and drove around the island one day, up to Rum point, with a few stops along the way, which was nice. Excursions: We took the "Starfish and Stingray City Adventure with Snorkeling" tour, which is highly recommended. We are from Canada and prices can get pretty steep with the exchange rate. We found it best to book our tours through tripadvisor so that we pay in Canadian dollars. All in all, this was a great property to stay at for its value and the type of vacation we were taking.
