Amazing Hotel, but valet service was disappointing.

Aug 21st, 2019

I've come to the Shangri-La Hotel on many occasions wether it be a staycation or galas that have been hosted here in the past and the hotel is absolutely beautiful, but unfortunately today when I went to the Miraj Hammam Spa (for a massage and pedicure) the valet service was lacking. I pulled up to the hotel entrance and waited for a valet attendant to approach my vehicle however nobody arrived. Afterward, I left my vehicle to scout a valet attendant in which I was told "Its $20 for the first five hours, do you want to pay now or later?". In my experience when valeting my vehicle in the past there is usually a degree of customer service. Also, this is my first time having to leave my car to find someone to valet it. The spa treatment was amazing and everything was perfect however when I went to grab my car it kind of dampened my mood. My fiancé and I are seriously considering having our wedding here because we have such great memories at the Shangri-La all over the world and love the asian inspired design, but with this valet service I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable. Excellent Stay in Toronto

Aug 21st, 2019

Great stay in Toronto - the service was good. The location was good. The food needs to be improved - especially breakfast. The fitness centre and pool amenities were all good. Overall great stay in Toronto - better than other 5 star hotels in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great place in the center

Aug 21st, 2019

Great hotel, very clean, rooms are spacious. I suggest to not get a room on the street side if you want to sleep well, the street is very noisy. Hotel is also very expensive, but the service is excellent and the restaurant is alose excellent. They have live music in the lobby in the evening, The musicians were great.Overall, great hotel at a walking distance of most attractions, but you pay the price. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best Hotel I’ve ever been!

Aug 21st, 2019

From check in to check out a full 5 star experience. Great room, super clean and well maintained, Great view, Great spa Outstanding staff The bedding is incredible comfortable Highlights: I mentioned while checking into my room, a friend from Toronto will come up for a drink. 5 minutes later (without asking for it) room service came: “ as we know you’re awaiting a guest, we allowed ours self to prepare an ice bucked and glasses, napkins and some nuts. If you need any more drinks, call anytime.” At check out, everything was prepared, luggage in the car, car in front, navigation set. Big thank you to concierge Ryan Clark, who helped to make this stay unforgettable! If one day I can afford staying at Shangri la for all my vacations and trips, I would never book any other but this. You definitely get what you pay, and it’s worthing every Dollar. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Changes urgently needed

Aug 16th, 2019

This hotel engages in a practice of charging for the full stay PLUS an extra charge of as much as $1000 or more immediately upon check in. Why? We repeated asked for an explanation for the extra charge only to be told each time that it is "hotel policy" and would be returned - less any "incidental" charges. One can only assume this is intended for deadbeats who skip out on their bill. Does a hotel then penalize EVERY guest with the implication they too are deadbeats?? Four days after check out the extra charge had still not been credited. We phoned the hotel and were advised it takes "3-4 days to process". It does not. We have further been advised that legally this is a highly questionable practice. Whether it is or not, it needs to stop. We travel frequently and stay at the best hotels and resorts and have not encountered this anywhere else, and thus intend to have it taken up with Shangri-La's head office. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
