Abysmal Hotel, below Bonvoy Standards

Aug 10th, 2020

First off I am a Titanium member and as such I stay in hotels a lot and come to know what to expect from them. This hotel failed miserably at that. First I was greeted by an angry person at the door whom demanded that at 10pm when I arrived that I park my car at the end of their driveway to offload all of my bags and passengers not near the doors. I had two very elderly women and a 4 year old with me. I then had to leave them and my luggage at the end of the long driveway in the dark while I had to go park my car in the garage and walk back since they have no vallet service due to covid. I then had to argue with this same person to get a dolly for all of our bags at the end of the driveway in the dark where the elderly are being made to stand watch over them because I didn't have a room number yet. I finally get one and he gives me 10 minutes to return it to him, are you serious I still had to wait in line to check in. When I did check in my status was not even recognized by the front desk staff. The lobby has potential, its not horrible but a bit dated. I am informed the Club Lounge is open and I have access to it but there is nothing but coffee and snacks. Apparently according to the front desk they have not actually served real food there in over 5 years. Oh and as a Marriott policy they no longer give out bottles of water but they also have the water in the lounge turned off for guests. Finally to the rooms. The apparently upgraded to a "Wellness" room. The room has a loud filter in it and that seems to warrant an upgrade. These rooms are old and dated looking with peeling wallpaper, stained carpets and just an all around dirty appearance. If this was an upgrade I would hate to see what an average room looks like. As for cleaning I wouldn't know. One night they didn't bother to even clean my room. When I called down to complain they sent up a girl whom gave us fresh towels and promptly left. The second day they kind of made our beds and gave fresh towels. There was no other apparent cleaning or refreshing of the room. No refilled coffee or tea, nothing. I doubt they were in there even 5 minutes. We had two rooms and it was the same for both. The hallways and my room also smelled of Marijuana smoke pretty much 24/7 and the hotel is loud from other guests and undesirable people till 4am. The security guy downstairs near the elevator never checks for room keys he just sits there and ignored everyone. This hotel does not meet the Sheraton standard and needs to be closed down and completely remodeled or renamed The Red Roof Inn. Much of the staff needs to be retrained or outright fired. I will not stay here again. Yes this was a Rewards Points stay but it was not worth the couple hundred thousand points I wasted on it at all! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Have stayed better AND worse...

Aug 4th, 2020

First time at this hotel and a bit disappointed. It was the least expensive in the immediate area, reasons clearer as the trip continued. Many groups, uncertain if together. A lot of young people seeming more like Spring break in AC. Stairwell littered, parking garage, elevators in hotel smelling of marijuana. Spotted carpet, tile in tub and some raggy towels. Staff was VERY friendly and as helpful within their means/limitations, I'm hoping anyway. A very last resort IF ever again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice Hotel

Aug 3rd, 2020

This hotel is nice! The hallways and parking area smelled terribly like weed. The ice vending areas were overflowing with trash. It’s too far away from the beach for my liking, we drove up. If your a shopper it’s close to the outlets. The pool & hot tub were closed which was sad. Parking is free and we got there hours before check in and we were able to get into a room. The wait times for eatery any where is crazy, consider delivery. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Dirty Room and Rowdy Crowd

Jul 28th, 2020

Ok. I haven’t been to AC in a few years and wow has it gone downhill. I feel like I’m in the center of a Jerry Springer show. Very rowdy crowds down here. Definitely not a classy place. On to the room; I’m in a “pure room” which is a room for people that have allergies so it comes with a humidifier in the room. My first room reeked of cigarette smoke despite all rooms being non smoking. Anyway, I’m in bed, and I look to my left and what do I see — a curly brown hair on the other pillow! Yikes!! The bed when I walked in looked like someone had been laying in the bed, and clearly they had since their hair is on the pillow! Unbelievable especially since we are in the middle of a pandemic you would think the hotel would stress to housekeeping to truly clean the room and to not lay in the guests beds. I understand the housekeeper must have been tired, but seriously it’s just not sanitary especially during Covid-19. Sheraton this is truly disappointing. Also, the tub has rust and the faucet is dripping! Never again! Atlantic City isn’t it and especially not this hotel; it’s very tired. The rooms look very dated. One good thing is the front desk ladies are very professional and polite. Do yourself a favor and don’t book this hotel, go elsewhere other than AC unless you are the Jerry Springer crowd type then you will love it! And definitely opt for a nicer hotel. I can’t imagine the cheaper ones if this is what you get at a Marriott Bonvoy brand like the Sheraton. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No Room service after 10 pm,

Jul 23rd, 2020

As a frequent traveller this is the first time I have come to a Sheraton that doesn’t provide 24-7 room service. I have been on the road day and haven’t eaten much. I used some of my points and partially paid for my room thinking it would be a full service Sheraton??? The manager was not even willing to comp me on this? Now I’m to not eat for the evening. I will not go to MacDonalds.. This type of treatment is totally unacceptable. I’m am now considering dumping all my points and going to another chain that will treat me with respect and fairness. SHAME ... Sheraton Atlantic City, you lost another customer.... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
