A big hotel in a quiet place

May 17th, 2020

Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade is a large business traveler hotel, however, it is also good for leisure travelers, many good restaurants nearby, such as Café Einstein, Ristorante Tra Di Noi. From the hotel across the street, it is Tiergarten. Hop on Hop off boat tour is outside of the hotel across the street also. If you like to walk couple miles, you can walk to Potsdamer Platz, Brandenburg Gate and other attractions, or take a bus to there. Hotel room is large, clean, and breakfast is very good. Good Hotel, Perhaps a Little Dated

May 1st, 2020

As I sometimes do, when there is a good offer, I stayed at a hotel in my own home town. This time it was the Sheraton Grand Hotel Esplanade. Sheraton took the hotel over some years ago and what was once one of West Berlin's top hotels has now to face tough competition from countless other luxury properites in the re-unified city. The location is not the very, very best, but its close to Berlin's green Tiergarten and a 15 minute stroll to the Tauentzien/Kurfürstendamm shopping area. A bus stop is close. The hotel itself is very well kept, the overall design could use a little makeover, though. I was surprised that, although being Marriott Gold Elite, I did not receive a room upgrade. The hotel was apparently well booked, but as it was Christmas, surely not fully booked. The room was well appointed and, facing a residential area, no sound from the outside was to be heard (although there was noise from the adjacent room). Unfortunately, I had a big fat cold which kept me from checking out the spa and pool area and I did not dine at the awkwardly positioned lobby restaurant (just took a sandwich up to my room), but even with a severe sinusitis I could smell the obnoxious air freshener which pested the lobby and would have prevented me from having dinner there. Breakfast was a feeding of the masses in a bland and not very welcoming setting. Bottom line: when you get a decent rate, a nice place to stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fabulous Hotel

Mar 3rd, 2020

We stayed here for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. All the staff are very friendly and professional from the receptionist at check-in to breakfast waiters and maids. Our room was very spacious (a panorama suite) and spotlessly clean. There is a small gym and a pool which is a bit small for such alarge hotel. 6 people made it feel overcrowded. Breakfast was varied and delicious. The hotel is well positioned between the 2 main sightseeing areas near the Tiergarten. We are reasonably fit and walked everywhere. However, the Bus 100 stops just around the corner and is ideal for sightseeing. My only small complaint is that our room was incredibly hot and there seemed to be no way of adjusting the heat other than opening the windows. I would definitely stay here again. Nice hotel, walking distance from some of the highlights

Feb 23rd, 2020

Stayed here for 3 nights, very friendly welcome and because there was no breakfast in the lounge I still got it for free still and a free drink in the bar. Rooms are very decent in size and clean, very clean. Had lunch in the cafeteria which was very nice and service was friendly too. Stayed here for a conference in another hotel nearby but while walking back/forth saw some of the sights and the Zoo is nearby too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great hotel

Feb 18th, 2020

Although the Bonvoy lounge wasn't up to the normal Sheraton standards with limited snacks/drinks, the fact that breakfast was held in the main dining room was a bonus. As far as the rooms go, we got upgraded to a Penthouse suite with an amazing balcony and the staff were wonderful. It can feel slightly out of the way on arrival but as soon as you get your bearings it's really easy to get to and from everything you need. One note- taxis are expensive for the distance you go in Berlin, train etc brilliant TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
