Fantastic Valet, awful Reception

Aug 17th, 2019

So we just returned home this evening after our Boston getaway. First, let me point out something that was enjoyable about our stay..the valet staff. These men were super sweet, professional, courteous and totally on top of everything. Each member of the team was friendly and bent over backwards to assist us. Really hope the powers that be recognize the gems they have in this department. Moving on...as we have traveled extensively and are not new to this chain, we were taken aback by how unappealing and rude the reception staff were from the moment we arrived. At check in, a woman with medium length straight blonde hair of middle age was dismissive and curt. When I explained my husband was checking our car with the Valet and I was ready to check in, she waved me off, stating no, i cannot check you in, only your husband since your name is not on the reservation. Never heard of this before. I mean, if i were trying to take out money at the bank i get it, but um, where is the harm with me showing her the confirmation number, his email reservation, our joint credit card that the room was reserved with....as i tried to explain she dismissed me and ended our encounter. My husband ran up and said this is my wife, I am watching our son and working with valet, why cant you understand? again, she was rude to him. Husband then went to another person, a young man with brown hair in his 20s who gave us a room, but was snarky and sarcastic during the entire encounter. Their nasty attitude really put a damper on our experience, and we plan on sharing our experience with friends. We also noticed other folks in the Reception area looking a bit confused by their experience. Can someone please explain the entitled bratty attitude of these individuals? Again, the Valet was top notch. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Loud plumbing, bad attitudes

Aug 17th, 2019

The plumbing in this hotel seems to be hanging on by a thread. Our first room was near another room which emitted a very loud, high pitch sound similar to squealing tires every time the toilet was flushed. This woke us up several times over the first few nights to the point we requested a new room. In the second room, it was our toilet making the noise, which was a bit more tolerable (though we could still hear it coming from another room, just not loudly). What makes it worse is the front desk staff don't take you seriously. You can see in other reviews this is an ongoing issue but they act as if you must just be some kind of ultra-sensitive newborn baby for daring to care about this. One staff member even trivialized our concerns because us getting woken up by a toilet in the middle of the night was nothing compared to her own lack of sleep. On top of this, the toilets in both our rooms did not flush properly. You have to hold down the handle for a few seconds, and even then there is a 25% chance that it won't work. After completing the follow-up survey they sent, I received an e-mail explanation that the hotel has old plumbing and they can't do anything about it until they renovate. This was the first time anyone admitted there could possibly be something wrong with the hotel itself. We did have good experiences with several staff members before and after this as we had some other issues which were handled well: we upgraded our room easily from the small standard room and our bill was not properly itemized, which I needed for work. Addressing these issues was easy. We were also given a discounted upgrade for the noise issues, but I would have preferred being treated with respect. My opinion is that this hotel runs on conferences and conventions. If you are staying here as a couple or family you are rolling the dice on your room and there are seemingly better options right down the street. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not up to usual Sheraton standards

Aug 16th, 2019

This place is pretty shabby for a Sheraton. Location is good but facilities are really tired and staff are exceptionally complacent. Management are arrogant and not customer friendly. I suspect they fill this place with convention and conference guests so don’t have to try hard. Overall - very disappointing and not recommended for a holiday/vacation hotel TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location for a game

Aug 15th, 2019

Stayed for the weekend for a Boston Red Sox game. Price if room was fair and within walking distance to Fenway Park. Close to all shops, restaurants, and bars. Also connects to Copley Place Mall and the Prudential center. . TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great stay with minor hiccup

Aug 15th, 2019

Stayed here for 2 nights for a conference. Front desk staff very nice. Beautiful views from a beautiful room on the upper floor. Breakfast delivered from the market in the hotel was good. Slight misunderstanding regarding my housekeeping requests, but was taken care of at check-out. Great location, close to lots of activities. Would highly recommend and would stay again.
