The Perfect Vacation

Feb 26th, 2020

I love this resort! It was our 3rd time staying there and they are simply the best! We went for a relaxing vacation as well as to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary and everyone made us feel cared for and special the whole time we were there. I had two 90 minute massages by Ramona in the Maiave spa, and she was amazing! I really appreciated how Jorge & Frida worked out the best deal for me so I could also experience their beautiful and calming hydro circuit before each massage and Angelica was the perfect attendant for my relaxation therapy. Their restaurants are all amazing...with some outstanding chefs who created the most delicious and extraordinary dishes I have ever eaten. Alfredo and Caim in the stunning Gaviotas restaurant were so charming and accommodating for both the anniversary celebration and my brother’s birthday dinner a few nights later. Morning breakfast was always a delightful and entertaining time with Ascension as our waiter and a great way to start each day! Carlos from the entertainment crew led the best water aerobics classes and afternoon activities and was very helpful is giving us suggestions and information about PV outside of the resort. Their two pools are gorgeous and where I spent most of my days in PV, thanks to the attentive and talented Eduardo in the pool bar. We were there for two weeks and he worked every day of our vacation, making delicious refreshing beverages for all the guests, and creating surprise drinks for me when I asked. He is an amazing mixologist! I enjoyed wrapping up each day by hanging out at the Embarcadero Gastro Bar each evening, where Diego and Carlos made the perfect evening cocktails for me to wind down. I think lastly, I have to mention the two kindest people at the resort, who helped us have the perfect vacation from start to finish and went out of their way to make sure my family and I had exactly what we wanted and that was Lulu in concierge and Jacob from the front desk. I can’t thank them enough for helping my parents have the perfect 50th anniversary...we are already planning our next trip back and we just got home yesterday! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

What does all inclusive mean to you ?

Feb 26th, 2020

I expect things to be ALL INCLUSIVE. In our room we had a large bottle of water on the table with a price tag hanging around it. I asked at the front desk about the water and was told, go ahead you are all inclusive, there is no charge. I went back to the front desk in the morning to confirm. I was told then no, water would be charged if we drank the large bottle. Small bottles were left near the bathroom, complimentary. At the pool bar, ask for a tequila that was on the shelf, was told that is a premium and has a fee. We argued, no we are all inclusive. Bar staff said all booze is not included. Front desk says yes we have premium for a fee. WHY is it behind the bar if not included? At the Italian Restaurant, see wine in the cabinet, told not included. The bar fridge in our room was never stocked from day one. It had 2 cans of pop inside. Front desk said it would be filled, didn't happen. When we arrived the sports bar and Japanese restaurant were mentioned, but again at a charge as they are on the "Vacation Club" side of the resort. We DID have amazing service at the buffet everyday from Juan. He went out of his way to be sure our group of 11 were set up together. The resort itself was lovely and clean. The beach is very rocky and most days too rough swim. Pools are both quite nice. In conclusion, I think that if there are some restaurants, and alcohol NOT included with the all inclusive packages, those need to be stated very clearly before arrival. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Absolutely the best people around

Feb 26th, 2020

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel recently and it was an awesome experience. The people at this hotel constantly went out of their way to make sure everything about our stay was amazing. Vanessi was the first one to reach out to us before we got there and she didn't let us down. She camenout to meet us and gave us an upgrade that my girlfriend absolutely loved. It was what she hoped and envisioned this stay would be and Vanessi was the best in making it become a reality. We are very thankful for the great experience we had there and to all the staff who made it even better. The sunset view every night like this was a huge bonus. Go and experience it yourself. Lovely resort, good experience

Feb 26th, 2020

For context, we are a couple in our late 50s. We like a good party but we also appreciate chill time. PROs The food and drink at Sheraton Bugavilias are great. No issues. In fact, some of the a la carte restaurants are excellent, especially Gaviotas. Always great service at the various bars. On that note, the Bar Embarcadero is lots of fun. There are no shows at this resort. If you're looking for late-night entertainment, the live singers at this bar are great. Our room was fairly basic but it was super clear and had everything we needed. Water from the shower leaked a bit into the main bathroom area but easily fixed with a towel against the shower door. All rooms have an incredible view of the legendary Pacific coast sunsets for which PVR is famous. Daily cleaning was excellent. As with most resorts, the staff is always the key. A disconnected, apathetic staff can make a huge impact on the experience. The team at Sheraton Buganvilias is engaged and committed to the guest experience. The hotel is part of the Pacific experience for Mexican visitors so obviously they see sunsets like no other. We have travelled extensively in Mexico and we know the difference between a sunset in Cancun and one in Mazatlan. We visit frequently and love the sunsets in PVR. CONs The beach at Sheraton Buganvilias is not a good beach for swimming or walking. The beach is composed of hard, sharp sand that may be hard to walk on depending on the toughness of your feet. As you enter the water, you find small, smooth rocks more like a lake than an ocean. Bottom line -- if you are looking for a classic white sand beach, this isn't it. Not even close. Be aware -- this is not a beach hotel. It is a great pool hotel. There are two pools. There is a main pool and a secondary pool closer to the timeshare area of the property. The main pool is great if you like to party. It's fun and noisy and loud and crowded. It's full of fun people and if that's what you're looking for, awesome! The second pool is in the timeshare area (still open to all guests) and it's way more civilized. Beautiful rock/flower/waterfall feature in the middle, and it's really lovely. Full marks for the hotel for designing this pool. The issue is the age-old problem of people saving pool chairs. I was happy to read previous reviews where people said there were signs notifying these idiots that saving chairs was against resort rules and towels and other items left before 10:30 a.m would be removed. It gave me hope, maybe naively, that perhaps a resort was finally courageous enough to take a stand. Well, I was disappointed but not surprised. It seems that like so many others, this resort lacks intestinal fortitude. Signs are nothing more than a token gesture if you don't have the courage to enforce them. We watched one couple save SEVEN chairs around them for two consecutive days days using towels and other items, and nobody ever showed up to share their little camp. It wasn't until one one gentleman confronted them at the end of the second day (and good for him!) that they backed off and admitted they just didn't want people people sitting so close to them. Wow. Just wow. Sheraton, once and for all, you need to put your money where your mouth is. The signs are nice, but you know that nobody pays any attention. Have the courage to enforce the rules, period. No discussion. Just do it. You know this is a problem and you know what the solution is. Fix the problem. (Of course, we know you will write a nice reply to my review promising to fix this, but I've seen the same response from other resorts over and over again.) Conclusion This is a great property and we recommend it. High quality food, high quality staff and guess experience, and great location. We loved the second pool and would be happy to spend time there again. Everything about this property is top-notch. Prohibit chair-saving and we'll return in a heartbeat! :) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
