Will NEVER recommend this hotel

Jan 19th, 2020

I am writing this review from now my FOURTH hotel room in one night. Here with my 17yo daughter for a softball tournament. If it was not for the friendliness of the staff I would be leaving and checking out. I have NEVER encountered anything like this. The 1st room had extremely loud water pipes. I understand it is an old bldg but who wants to sleep listening to that!! So we are offered a different room. That room wasn't even clean...hair on the comforter.(see photo)...bathroom half cleaned...so call front desk again...they apologize and put us in a new room. That one was clean and all but about an hr in...I start to smell cigarette smoke. I call front desk...they say they are gonna come chk..but never follow up. Then my neighbor apparently lights up again and I call down again and ask them to come to my room so they can smell. They do...offer another room and mention a 20% discount... Excuse me....20% Sir my daughter is now wheezing and you want to offer me 20%??? I await check out in the morning to see how this is addressed but I will never book here again and dont reccomend anyone stay here!!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Avoid, avoid, avoid

Probably the worse hotel experience I've had in a Sheridan Hotel. Advertised as having a city view. Looked into the windows of the Marriott which was less than 100 ft away. Burned out light bulbs in room, no tv remote, toilet seat not secured to toilet, mirror not accessible, 2 people booked-1 bottle of water in room. A white painted room with nothing on the walls. The building is a former bank whose floors loudly creak. Wine on menu not available, no chips, etc available. No staff asked how we enjoyed our stay. Guessing previous guests had already told them how bad it is there. Not worth the hassle or cost. Stay at the adjacent Marriott or Holiday Inn if you are looking to stay in central downtown. Great hotel, comfy beds, I definitely recommend it!

Dec 14th, 2019

I came to Columbia by myself to speak at a conference in town and stayed here one night. I enjoyed the hotel a ton, and I honestly have no complaints. The staff was super nice and quite helpful - they remembered my name throughout the stay. The room was extremely clean and comfortable - I especially enjoyed the showers, free printing in the lobby, and I loved the wood floors in the room. My favorite amenity was the fresh water in the lobby and free printing! The hotel was very nicely put together, so I don't have any recommended upgrades. There are several restaurants within driving distance of the hotel, so it made it very easy to find food options for dinner - and Uber eats delivered there, too. This hotel is perfect for business stay - and the beds were SO COMFY. I would definitely stay here again - a perfect place for my business stay! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

5 Star NY price for tired, dysfunctional property

Nov 23rd, 2019

Stayed for (thankfully) one night. Room was freezing at check-in and heater was noisy and did not work. In fact noise level was excruciating even when I turned it off (I had to chose between cold temperature or noise and got both :). Room was tiny and tired, with a view to a garage roof. Breakfast was very bad too. Greasy bacon, grits (I know ...), orange juice from concentrate (AKA as Diabetes cha cha cha), two apples and white bread. Oh and all this for $300+ / night. Stay away. Needs work not upto Sheraton standards

Nov 18th, 2019

Stay here overbite for a concert at Colonial Life Area. It’s a beautiful building lobby was small but nice. The room given was not cleaned with people inside. Was given a second room on same floor room was nice size and clean but toilet was broken and had to call front desk. Maintenance arrived and repair without a problem. The Vault Bar was very tiny and Very Very Dirty with the Bartender way in over her head having a small melt down with maybe 10-12 people. Some people may love it and some may leave it, I’ll leave it.
