Disney trip

We stayed here one night as part of a California driving week, and this was the pre-Disney night. Paid parking. Okay check-in experience and friendly staff, although when we asked for a room not close to an elevator and then ended up right beside the elevator, it was a little mystifying. We ended up staying there anyway. Room wasn't huge but big enough. Good bed. But ultimately it was the proximity to Disney that was the reason for the stay, including Disney Downtown. Both are a 10-minute drive away, so it kept things simple. Target is across the street from the hotel, and there are lots of places to eat nearby. So it was a decent stay. Not memorable in any sense but just average. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Pretty good... for Anaheim/Garden Grove

I stayed at the Sheraton Garden Grove for 4 nights to attend a tradeshow at the Anaheim Convention Center. The tradeshow I attended is very big, so this hotel was one of the few left that had a reasonable room rate. Being an elite Marriott Bonvy member, I was able to check in through my mobile device. On arrival, I was greeted very warmly (better than most check-ins in recent memory). I was given my key and headed to my room on the 6th Floor. My room just happend to be just outside of the elevator. Not my first choice, but I was told the hotel was full that entire week, so I didn't really have any options. Room was fairly standard looking for Sheraton. Fairly traditional styles and colors, furniture is a little worn, but in better condition that other hotels I've stayed in Anaheim and Garden Grove. Room was a good size, and bed was comfortable enough. I found the bathroom fixturing (specifically the toilet and shower) were really stiff. I thought they were broken, but you had to put a significant amount of effort to flush or turn on the shower. Small children would not have the strength to use them by themselves. In-room safe is available, and it was big enough for my laptop. TV is an older LCD with Netflex and Pandora access. Electrical plug outlets on the desk were severely worn, so when I plugged in my laptop, it didn't even register as being plugged in because it was so loose. Basic Internet speed was measured to be around 7Mbps, which is a little above average. Didn't have an issue with regular street noise, but since I was immediately under the club lounge, so i could hear the breakfast setup each morning. I did use the club lounge, and it's a very small one. Service was minimal. The one espresso machine was not in full working condition the entire time I was there (the chocolate dispenser was not working). Breakfast is very basic, but acceptable. Evening snacks were not good at all, so I didn't bother going back after the first try. Location is fairly close to Disneyland. Disneyland shuttle service is available, but I think it's actually cheaper and more convenient to using a cab or ride-hailing service, especially if there are two more people going. Target is across the street, and some chain restaurants are less than a block away. Overall, an acceptable stay with no major issues. It was actually better than most hotels I've stayed at in the past few years around Anaheim and Garden Grove, but because of the popularity of the destination, hotels still do good business even if they're not in top condition. For this area, I would rate 3.5 stars, mostly for relative value. If this hotel were anywhere else, closer to 3.25 stars. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

They Are Very Amateurish

The hotel was decent although I had to call for housekeeping to clean my room. My worst experience however was upon check out when I was told that my bill could not be broken into meals vs lodging. One young man insisted on telling me it was company policy not to do so when I assured him that other Sheraton's I have stayed at had no problem in doing so. He was arrogant and insistent that what he was saying was fact. He.would not listen nor concede that I might be right. The staff here needs training on how to deal with their customers as well as how to break out a bill. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointing for a Sheraton

As a Marriott BonVoy member, I can say this is the worst experience I have had staying at a Sheraton. The front staff the evening of January 29, 2020 that I checked in were incompetent and the reason for so many issues and headaches I had on my "vacation". I had problems with check-in and my credit card company- who had to cancel my card for fraud while I was on vacation with my family for Disney because of the front staff charging me over $1K for TWO rooms when I had only booked one room (I was helped by a girl named Sam, but she had help from another older female that night and an older man..not sure if he was the manager but none of them clearly knew how to handle checking someone in correctly). They mixed up my reservation with my sisters, who was staying there with her family as well and charged me for both rooms. The worst part was my brother in law reserved a room as well for January 31st with his family and they turned him away because "they couldn't find him". This was after a long night of Disneyland, he had all his kids with him and nowhere to sleep because they didn't want to acknowledge his confirmation email. This place is not the place to stay if you want a good experience. The only positive thing I can say is the breakfast staff is extremely nice and helpful, which we were able to get breakfast coupons for from the front staff manager for the reservation mix ups. Honestly that wasn't even enough though because the trip was already hell because of them. Everything else sucked and our sheets had what looked like red nail polish stains. Such a disappointment but now I know where not to stay or recommend even though I recommended my whole family to stay here with their families for our Disney trip because of my AMAZING expereince at the LAX Sheraton, so this was just embarrassing. Honestly the best western in Orange was a WAY BETTER experience than this. I do not recommend staying here, especially with your family. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great but not perfect

We spent four nights here for a Disneyland trip and had a very nice visit. I used to stay at this property about a decade ago when it was brand new and the hotel has been refreshed and is, for the most part, really pretty and fresh. Some of the furniture in the rooms is a bit worn but otherwise the rooms look great. There were a couple service failures during our trip that were a little bothersome. Yesterday morning two housekeepers (one male and one female) had a very loud argument in the room next to ours (btw we know they were housekeepers because the cart was in the hallway outside the room) and another day the same male housekeeper let himself into our room despite the Do Not Disturb sign being on the door. But the nastiest and weirdest thing is the smoking area. Why in the world would you set up a smoking area immediately on both sides of the hotel’s front door? This is a Sheraton property, not a Motel 6. Every single time guests come and go from the main entrance you need to run the gauntlet of smoke and overflowing ashtrays. Seriously, didn’t anyone think this out? Overall a really good stay but some better attention by management could certainly have made it even better. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
