Large, soulless hotel in a blessed location

This hotel is blessed by its location which is enough to overcome its tired and drab decor. If you want to feel like you are in Moscow, this is the hotel to stay at. Rooms are very dark. People are nice. And they try hard. So that counts! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Overall a good experience!

This was my first visit to the Grand Sheraton. Overall, it was a good experience with a couple of exceptions. As a Marriott Titanium member, I felt very much appreciated. I received a very nice room upgrade, which was awesome. The Concierge lounge was one of the best I've been too. Connie in the lounge was a real standout! She provided truly exceptional service. There were a few small maintenance issues in the room that should have been addressed. My other challenge is that I ordered room service one night and it was insanely expensive. I always expect a fairly high cost for room service, but this was pretty exceptional. I would definitely stay at this hotel again (but find another way to get a late night dinner!). Disappointing Stay in July 2019 at the Sheraton Grand Chicago

Upon arrival at the hotel, I parked in the self-parking lot underground and noticed a number of large pools of sewer water. This was not only unpleasant to see and smell, but also a health hazard. Moreover, these puddles did not go away over the course of the entire stay. Upon check in, I elected to participate in Make a Green Choice. On one particular day, while housekeeping was servicing other rooms, I asked the housekeeper for a few additional toiletry items (since I was not having my room cleaned). In response, I was told to call housekeeping and have those items delivered to my room, although it baffles me why she could not give those items on the spot. Finally, I was severely underwhelmed and disappointed in my lounge experience as a Platinum Ambassador guest. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel for my stay was my previous positive experience and stay at the facility a year ago. This trip, in comparison to my prior stay, the food selection and availability was severely reduced. On a number of occasions, food was never replenished despite being told items would be replenished / available shortly. This issue stemmed from the lounge being overcrowded with non-status guests. As a result, there were long lines for food, a lack of available seating, and a chaotic environment. In addition, the lounge staff was severely overwhelmed with the volume of people, resulting in a lounge that was in disarray. As a result of these experiences, I am hesitant to return to this hotel and would consider other Marriott options in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Filthy sheets - No apologies

Completely disappointed in the cleanliness of the beds. Stayed in a double room. I pulled the sheets back on one bed and there was food all over the duvet. I pulled the sheets back on the second and there were crumbs between the sheets. Housekeeping stated that it happens when they switch out a room but the old customer is still in there. (Why would they not wait until the person had checked out?) No apologies. Then tried to just switch out the bottom sheets and nothing else. Said they don’t normally switch the duvet cover between customers. There was food on it. I’m completely grossed out. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Mr. John (Valet/ Doorman) is outstanding ! He is an extraordinarily friendly gentleman. He engaged my 17/18 year old children each and every time he saw us... ask how he could help us every day as we entered or exited the hotel!! What a great front porch you have with Mr. John standing to greet folks! Suzanne at check in very helpful too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
