Great hotel and location

Very nice hotel in the middle of the city. Hotel has very nice rooms, can be busy when conventions are in town making elevators a pain. Many amenities including one of the nicest hotel gyms you can find. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Looks great; ultimately it’s mediocre

Apr 17th, 2019

This review is long overdue. I’m a semi-regular business visitor to Phoenix, and I stay at this Sheraton for one reason: its lovely outdoor pool and hot tub. The rooms are fine, though if it aspires to be a five-star hotel, they don’t do it. Here are some of the many issues: -dated rooms, with a chintzy small flat screen TV and no USB outlets; feels about 10 years outdated -skimpy housekeeping service, with not always the right amount of towels -the internal phone often rings and rings when you’re calling for something, and by the time they answer they just transfer you somewhere else, which rings and rings... -the last straw was the nickel-and-diming at the bar. Tonight I ordered an “artisanal cheese plate,” which was fine except it came with only four tiny pieces of bread. I asked for more, and the waitress brought it and said, “Just so you know, there’s a charge of $2.00 for the extra bread.” I told her there was zero chance I would pay that and that the nickel-and-diming was beneath a restaurant with the aspirations of this hotel. She relented and didn’t charge me. -my assistant regularly has problems with the bill; it always ultimately works out, but they sometimes have two different prices depending on how it’s booked, and my credit card keeps showing small charges here and there for no reason - all of which are ultimately corrected, but some notice or explanation would be nice Is it ultimately worth it? The public areas are quite nice and it is centrally located. And as I said, the pool is great, though good luck getting a drink after the pool bar closes at 5:00 p.m.! I haven’t seen a better pool downtown, but each time I return I am so tempted not to return to the Sheraton and its many bush-league surprises. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Frustrating experience with staff and customer service line

Apr 16th, 2019

I stayed at this hotel during business travel on Nov 4-7, and got charged $257.79 by mistake in addition to the regular charge for my 3-night stay. I’ve been calling the hotel many times since November 2018 and could not get the refund. I talked to the Marriott hotel customer service at least 6 times and they kicked the problem back to the hotel and hotel refused to listen to me or solve the problem. It’s insane that I had to spend so much time and energy to track down the refund due to hotel’s mistake. 6 months later, the issue is still not resolved. It’s extremely frustrating!! Very Nice Hotel in a Great Location

Apr 16th, 2019

This is a huge hotel, but it is nice. The location is also great being downtown. The rooms are very spacious, and the beds are comfortable. I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. There is a nice area to eat across the street that is open pretty late. I also wanted to drink at the bar, but I wasn't impressed with the lobby bar. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very nice hotel

Apr 13th, 2019

I stayed at the Sheraton Grand Phoenix while attending a conference last month. Check-in was quick and easy, and received a comp upgrade to a suite which was spacious, clean and comfortable. Location was ideal as it within a quick walk to the convention center. The only downside of this hotel was the lounge. it was crowded every morning and evening--especially as this was a headquarter hotel for the conference. I saw a lot of people come in and look for one of the 10 or so tables and went back out if there wasn't a seat. Some got their food and took it back to their rooms. Other than that, this was a great hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
