Good Stay!

The Sheraton Gunter is located in a great spot. It's just across the street from a Riverwalk entrance and is surrounded by restaurants. Keep in mind that the hotel is in a old historic building, so there are some things that might be dated. We loved the charm of the hotel and it suited us for our needs. It was clean and the front desk staff was very nice. The room felt like it was a good size for the 4 people in our group. They have a bar downstairs and a restaurant as well, if you do not want to venture out. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Rick's Customer Service was "AMAZING" By Far!

We booked this hotel last minute on our way to San Antonio this past weekend to celebrate my son's bday. Not realizing it listed (1) Queen bed, and it was 4 of us as a family. Rick was amazing and accommodated us. Made my son smile with Free Ice Cream. The hotel was very clean, very quiet. I would stay here again for sure! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location

Near walking distance to area attractions and located in old town section. Old hotel with large high ceiling rooms of yesteryears , renovated rooms but still showing it’s age in some respects. Overall comfortable with good service and lower prices than others in slightly higher standing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I had every reason to be upset....

I had every reason to be upset. Nothing was going right -- even before I arrived, my reservation was incorrect. I somehow had multiple rooms under my name and different dates for each of them -- left unchecked, I would have been billed for extra rooms before I arrived and after I had intended to leave. I called to correct and ended up with the kindest and most helpful Reservation Specialist that I have ever ran across in my 18+ years of staying at Marriott properties with Cherylanne (spelling). Oddly enough, Cherylanne happened to live in San Antonio and was able to not only correct my reservation issues but gave me some insights into the city and warned me of a cold front coming through -- I would have been wondering around in -40 degree weather without a coat if she hadn't. Upon my arrival, the hotel was packed with a wedding taking place and booking most of the hotel. The valet attendant was incredibly helpful and patient in assisting me with two trolley cart loads of baggage -- waiting for me to unload, check-in, getting into my room and unloading everything. In all, I took about 30 minutes of this young mans time -- time that he could have been earning tips in, but not once did he complain, roll his eyes or give the least bit of indication that he had better things to do with his time. I hope that not only was the tip I left him sufficient but he gets an equal reward from Marriott management. I won't go into all the issues with the convention that I was scheduled to attend because some of it was no fault of the hotel but their staff went above and beyond to make things right. I was upgraded on my second night to an amazing room with the help of the front desk staff, all of my shipping and receiving woes were handled personally by management, the banquet managers jumped through flaming hoops to get me what I needed and I felt like, even though I was probably the biggest problem child the hotel had ever experienced and that the hotel staff had every reason to avoid me like the plague, the entire staff called me by name, greeted me with a smile and went out of their way at every opportunity to be accommodating. The staff at this hotel is bar-none, the absolute best: Angel, Nissa, Latanya, Josh, Edward and Rick all deserve my praise and a raise. As for the hotel itself, the bar is great, the food is better than most, the breakfast place is incredibly convenient, the gym is outstanding, the concierge lounge is way beyond most properties, the business center has everything you would need and more of it than most places, everything seemed clean and current, the elevators kept moving and the amenities were plentiful -- don't know what more you could ask for. I sincerely hope that you get the chance to meet the staff here and that you find them as amazing as I did! I will be looking forward to my next visit to San Antonio and a chance to once again see the smiling faces and experience the positive attitudes of Angel, Nissa, Latanya, Josh, Edward and Rick -- truly some of the best of the Marriott family that I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Great location, great staff, great place to stay!

From the time we arrived until the time we left, we were treated to the kind of hospitality Texas is known for. This hotel is a piece of history, yet our room was roomy and comfortable. Loved the staff in every area. Very close to the River Walk, and dining at M.O.H. did not disappoint for a home style meal. We can't wait to stay here on future visits! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
