We do not have deals for this hotel.

We opted to stay here due to location. Graduate removed coffee makers from the rooms, claiming it's a COVID prevention measure. That's BS. Every other hotel we have been to has coffee. This is clearly a cost saving measure they're blaming on COVID. They closed the in-house restaurant/coffe house. We got a bed for the night. Period. They have a muddy area for pet "relief," (pay a $25 pet fee) but both my dogs and multiple other dogs I saw refuse to walk there. They must treat it with some chemical that the dogs won't go near. We paid Graduate $16 apiece for parking two vehicles. Imagine my surprise when we left the ramp that the exit gate arms were up and there was NO CHARGE for parking there. I wasted $32 that the Graduate clerk could have saved me by mentioning there's no charge to park on the weekend. Iowa City is very inhospitable to tourism right now. The Amanas or somewhere else would be a better choice. Graduate is a great location to walk downtown but they're a cut rate hotel at three star prices. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Poor Service and Staff Attitude
Sep 9th, 2020
The college kids they have working here don't understand the whole service aspect of the hotel business. They are curt and not very welcoming. Their attitude was basically that they were doing us a favor by listening to our requests and inquiries. On site coffee shop is closed indefinitely, so we had to walk a few blocks to get coffee and breakfast each morning. Air conditioner in room was very loud and made sleeping difficult. Also, watch out for the DMF (Destination Marketing Fee) they charge for each night without telling you about it ahead of time. You can opt out, but you need to know they will add it to the bill for each night's stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Cute decor but terribly uncomfortable

The decor at the Graduate is very cute. However, the bed was lumpy; there was no soap or glasses for drinking water; the very decorative closet was not functional for women business travelers, and the price was really high for so little comfort. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This place is aesthetically pleasing, but it is all show. I had two rooms for two nights in August. The air conditioning worked in one. Plaster was falling from the ceiling in the other. Housecleaning staff walked into our room after 10:00 pm the first night we were there and asked if we had booked the room. Um, yeah. I’m standing here in my shorts at 10:00 pm with a key. What do you think? I broke in? Severely understaffed at the front desk. Prepare for long, long lines. Really subpar experience I do not recommend. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Will try another hotel next time

Reserved 2 rooms- one of the 2 rooms was still dirty or occupied when we went into it. Called front desk- put on hold for a long time. Finally went downstairs and waited in long line to explain situation. Not apologetic about the situation. We attempted to call the front desk later in the evening- again put on hold for over 10 minutes. Lacking good customer service. Overall cleanliness in lobby area is lacking. This hotel has a lot of potential. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
