Almost a five!

Located directly across the street from the Convention Center, the Sheraton is a convenient location for meetings. It is also directly on Main Street which has the Main Street Trolley running from nearby the hotel to Beall Street (approximately 1 mile) . The cost is just $1/ride or $3 for an all-day pass. We were staying prior to boarding the 7-day river boat down the Mississippi, so the hotel was chosen by the river boat company and included in the price. We were very satisfied with the stay in spite of having read a few negative reviews. We arrived early, had bellmen at our taxi upon exiting, were greeted by friendly staff at the front desk, and were told our room was ready. We were on the 5th floor in a king room. The room had all the amenities of a good business hotel: desk, good lighting, mini-fridge, coffee maker, small sofa, included wi-fi. We were fine! The hotel has a full-service restaurant and bar where service was also very good to excellent. We ate one dinner here and were pleased with both the quality and service provided. My one minor sniggle came when I went for coffee early the next morning. I am an early riser and usually have a cup or two of coffee out of the room while I let my husband sleep. The cruise company was providing buffet breakfast on the 2nd floor but was not open at the time. I went to the downstairs restaurant and asked for a cup of coffee. The gentleman at the restaurant said that it was for ‘guests’ and I was ‘with the Queen’ (that is, the riverboat). I was then directed to the bar where for $5.25/cup I was sold the sought-after, expensive (!) coffee. So, the moral of this story is: use the coffee pot in the room! We were grateful that we could stow our carry-on bags at the hotel while we enjoyed walking around Memphis, seeing the sights to be seen. Pet-friendly TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Would not return

Greeted by a staff get together at reception, extremely rude. All we got is name please, room that way.... full stop!! At the bar trying to order drinks... another staff get together in the room off the bar which you can be clearly seen standing holding cash hoping to purchase alcohol. Went into restaurant, menus produced, order taking, food out..... food cleared. No sign of offering alcohol/desserts as again another staff get together. Do y'al not have managers to keep an eye on staff goings on. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Could not have been nicer

I wish I could tell you the front desk person, but I give him 5 stars. See, there was a marathon and our reservations got screwed up. We had a reservation...but for the next night. And this place was solidly booked. The front desk man was so gracious under extreme conditions..How can I say this diplomatically, he is a very tall black man. If that fixes it for management, please know he was the best. The first lady could not find our reservation, he found it and took care of us..can't give enough praise. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Below average rooms and service

Dec 30th, 2019

This hotel stay was booked by the American Queen Steamboat Company as part of our package. This is another hotel that appears to treat customers of the ASQC as 2nd class citizens in terms of providing the worst rooms and service. The hotel wasn't busy, has hundreds of rooms yet we were probably allocated the worst. We were placed in room number 531. A room overlooking the building works of the building next to it and across the corridor from the ice machine. On entering the room the air conditioning didn't work so I had to call services to get it fixed and when it was fixed it was so noisy we had to turn it off over night. There was also some litter on the floor and there was also a large dust ball on the carpet and dust over the table lamp, which wasn't cleaned in the 2 days we were there even after mentioning it the following morning. The building work started at 05:30 both mornings and woke us up. As well as that the very noisy ice machine situation opposite our room disturbed us during the night as did the guests talking outside our room who were getting ice. Breakfast was adequate and the service friendly if a little understaffed. Overall a disappointing experience which I would not recommend anyone wasting their time or money on. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

absolutely disgusting

This Sheraton’s rooms are filled with mold, and their air filters with caked on dust; which they refused to properly clean. Please, never stay here - for your own health. The service is truly terrible. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
