Great location and staff

Jul 15th, 2020

Stayed for 4 nights during the Covid 19 summer of 2020. Staff was great constantly cleaning inside the property. Our rooms did not get service due to protocol until the 3rd day but the staff was great bring towels etc to the room as you left the old towels outside your door. There is about a 5 min walk out to the beach and they do offer golf carts to take you out. We spent most of the time on the beach instead of the pool since it was crowded and hard to social distance. We would comeback and stay again TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointed & Disgusted

Jul 13th, 2020

I stayed here tagging along with my mother-in- law looking for prospective locations for my future wedding. Cydney at the front desk seemed less than enthusiastic about leaving a great first impression, nor did she care that we overlooked a wall with what they called a deceiving "partial view" of the gulf. The hotel was not very busy at the time of our visit, so I did not understand why we could not have been upgraded at check in due to my mother in law's status of platinum elite. Cydney began to stutter and shutter with ummm, ummmm, when we asked about possibility for an upgrade and then finally we were told flat out NO. She frequently returned glances behind her as if she was concerned more about the line forming behind her than giving us a warm welcome. I will not be returning nor can I recommend this property to others. The pool was dinky and the kids overran the pool area all hours of the day and evening screaming and carrying on being heard from our balcony. Food was decent but nothing to write home about. Room small with small shower and accessibility. Quite possibly, if we had been greeted with more sympathy and genuine care by Cydney, or treated like we were valued guests maybe it would have changed our original perceptions. I would rather go back to being a loyal customer with the Ritz Carlton and pay they extra money than to have received that kind of disappointment from Cydney. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Family Tradition

Jul 13th, 2020

This was our second trip to Sheraton Sand Key Resort for 4th of July. Although they weren't able to fulfill my suite upgrade request we had a great room on the 1st floor which the sliding door opened to the pool area which was great with our kids. The staff is very friendly, and even with COVID19 going on we felt very safe. Hotel was thoroughly cleaned and all staff wore masks. Rooms were cleaned every 3 days but if we wanted fresh towels or the garbage cleaned out they would do it quickly. Beach wasn't too crowded which was great, and there are a few restaurants and even a grocery store within walking distance. Looking forward to returning in 2021. Thanks TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not fun experience with front desk

Jul 6th, 2020

My family and I spent 2 nights at this hotel. The front desk lady wasn’t kind and were more concerned in keep the desk empty than helping resolving my issue. Long story short, they duplicated my reservation na do end up with two reservations on their system, one was already charged on my card. But She “Smartly" cancelled my paid reservation which was of the less price and charged me again with the highest charge and made me pay that. Who on Earth would choose the most expensive one and would offer that to the customer??? I tried to explain that it was already charged but she didn't want to listen and simply cancelled and refund me that. She actually got really mad at me because apparently she was more concerned with the line that was being formed beside me. That was a system problem and I had to pay the price for a mistake done by the system AND the poor assistance of the main desk lady. She called someone inside and the other lady said, "ops, I already refunded and cannot do anything". WHAT, so because of their lack of attention and their mistake I had to pay more for it??? Anyway I didnt want to argue with her because they were not listening. Besides that, the hotel was full and crowded on Saturday. They are not limiting capacity and it made the pool full with no social distance. I got really afraid to keep my kids there. The rooms are outdated for the price paid. Restaurantes are good and had a great experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Anniversary Disappointment

Jul 4th, 2020

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary last month here. The hotel is beautifully situated on Sand Key just south of Clearwater beach. I am a gold elite member but was not greeted as such when we checked in. The agent didn’t say whether the room was upgraded or not either. We were told our room had a sunset view but when we arrived in our room, there were 4 coconut trees between us and the sunset and the view was completely blocked. The hotel was not full so they could have easily given us a better room. We said that this was our anniversary but no effort was made to help us celebrate this. No staff recognized this nor was a flower, card, or any gift placed in our room. Even with my gold elite status, I did not feel very elite. The pool is beautiful and we enjoyed the pool and laying out on the deck. The bar refreshments were really good. By 12 noon, the pool was almost full and no one was really following social distancing. We didn’t feel comfortable with this so we went back to our room which was small. Some of the staff wore face masks but were causal about it. I don’t think this hotel is really serious about the virus. They are following the 6’ protocol but they don’t seem to be enforcing it well and are letting guests do want they want. Some followed guidelines but most were not. We left early because there was supposed to be a volleyball tournament to start on the hotel beach front Saturday morning. We were not very encouraged with our anniversary stay given the price per night. The room is small and expensive without a great view. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
