No hot water, shower drain slow, guest room doors opened on floor, no management response!

Sep 9th, 2020

Please don't let the location ( which is a good location) or the tout of this property going through renovation fool you to think that you will have a good experience....you wont... We stayed at this property this past Labor Day weekend from Friday to Sunday. Upon entering, the front desk gentleman told us they are going thru a renovation, and mentioned restaurant is closed due to covid 19, ( which we understood) we checked in and then left hotel as we had an appointment to meet some people in another part of town... we came back late that night and upon going to our room ( which there was no room number -420) i saw several doors across from us pushed slightly opened... i didnt think anything of it then an we went in room upon taking a shower.. the water could barely get lukewarm( closer to cold) and the water was so slow going down, i could not take a shower for more than a few minutes. We went to front desk early the next morning, told the front desk gentleman about it....he said he would have maintenance fix issue with hot water....he never offered a room change, which let me know there is an issue with hot water throughout hotel but we said ok Upon return saturday night after a full day out... NO HOT Water in shower... i could also tell..no one came in room oh by the way..the other guest rooms... still opened... why would you put guests on a floor where other doors are opened?? were they doing renovations on those rooms? Either way, this is not safe!!! we told front desk about issue again and asked for some sort of compensation... he told us since booking was through expedia he cant help us... I told the gentleman that we are both Marriott Envoy Gold members, so there must be something he could do... ) ie... reimburse us with points...give a discount...i travel alot...this can be done)...but he said no... i then asked for manager and he said she( Liz) would be in on Sunday Sunday morning... we go to front desk...ask for Liz... front desk lady calls Liz... Liz tells her she is cleaning rooms(?) then Liz says she is not on property and we should leave our number.. which we did... we go for breakfast....and dont leave until 11....no call from Liz i then emailed the General Manager, Mr Chapman on Sunday before we left.. Still no response from him.... But he sent us a survey! really... this place is not cheap, but they treat patrons in a cheap, unresponsive , and unprofessional manner... DONT Give them your money! Horrible Experience

Jun 30th, 2020

I will never ever stay here again & would advise others not to stay. I was charged a misc charge of $250 for apparently smoking in the room, but after trying several times to contact hotel no one ever responded. I had to contact Sheraton customer service on the Marriott bonvoy site after I made a complaint & basically got run around from them as well. They said had proof of the smoking in the room but I never received evidence of this & made another complaint & still have not received a response. There customer service is horrendous plus while we stayed I had to walk pass a homeless man in front of the hotel as well as a homeless person walking through the lobby. Upon entering & exiting the parking lot there were two homeless man outside of it, one had his hand down his pants. Also during my stay construction took place the next morning & it was not noted on their website or when I checked in by the front desk. I did not feel safe in this hotel either, I put a chair in front of my hotel room door. Take my advice never ever stay here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don't park here, Don't plan on eating here. Other than that you'll be fine!

Mar 3rd, 2020

Our room was clean, spacious, and perfectly sufficient for our stay. The restaurant on site is kind of sad - unexpectedly closed on the first night, totally empty on our second night, and no heat when we tried to eat breakfast there - it was so excrutiatingly cold we didn't even try and eat a meal and got up and left. Also parking here is a major problem: the car park is super tight. Almost impossible to enter without scratching your vehicle. Admittedly we had an intermeidate SUV so perhaps if you drive something smaller you'll be ok. Also the garage didn't feel super safe. Anyone can walk in and there aren't cameras on each floor. Tired and in need of an update

Jan 30th, 2020

I know this hotel is scheduled to be refurbished. Fine. That doesn't help guests who may be debating whether to stay at this property now. Staff are very friendly, but perhaps in need of some elocution guidance. Instructions at check-in were mumbled and rushed. As a first-time guest at this property I had to clarify where breakfast was served and what the parking arrangements were. The hotel is in desperate need of repair. The elevators are slow and need paint and refinishing. The club lounge on 11 is adequate (though staffed with perhaps the brightest spot of the hotel), if not a bit on the small side. My room was drafty, especially with the drapes open. The tile in the bathroom is clean but tired and clearly often repaired. The bed felt like a soft cardboard box. The suite overall has that same tired feel. The gym has several treadmills and the requisite free weights and floor area--but is definitely small for a property this size. It has the feel of a temporary gym stood up in a former guest room. There is a fridge for cool towels, but during my visits there wasn't a towel to be found anywhere in the gym. There are other options in Wilmington and I'll likely avail myself of those on my future visits to Wilmington--at least until this one receives a refresh. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Solid overall expereince, would stay again.

Dec 9th, 2019

I was here for a business visit to downtown Wilmington, and had, overall, a very good experience. I called in advance to ask a few questions and got very detailed answers. Upon arrival, and throughout the visit, all the staff were very friendly and conversational. The room was clean, but much of the hotel was starting to show a little wear-and-tear. One of the elevators wasn't working, and I had to get my key-cards re-coded every night. Despite what another reviewer said, there actually is parking, but the lot is limited to vehicles 6'-0" and under. My Toyota 4Runner just barely fit, but I was able to park. If not, there are about 8 other parking garages and lots within a 2-block radius. Also, this Sheraton now is part of the Marriott Bonvoy family. They offer points or credit for food if you forgo maid service, which was cool. I usually don't have my room made up every day anyway, and was able to get some points and a drink out of the deal. I'm sure it saves the hotel money overall in cleaning, but it's also a great way to go a bit greener when traveling. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
