Super convenient for visiting Universal

Aug 20th, 2019

This hotel is a comfortable and convenient location for visiting Universal Studios and the surrounding areas. The hotel was clean and fairly recently renovated. We had a heads up about 2 of the 3 elevators not working; it didn’t cause us an issue as they had opened up the service elevators adjacent to the lobby for use as well, so we used those most of our visit. Easy 7-10 min walk to/from Universal Studios/Citywalk plus there’s a free shuttle if you don’t want to walk. Pool area was great. We couldn’t get the jets to work in the hot tub, but at least it was hot. Restaurant was good for Sunday breakfast, nothing spectacular. Only a few minor annoyances to report- a light not working, the frosted glass on the bathrooms is stylish but allows light to shine into the room at night, and the flat bottomed sink doesn’t drain well. The hallway outside our room had a somewhat mildewy smell at times and the floors could use a deep cleaning, but I don’t usually go barefoot in hotel rooms anyway. Bed was comfortable and room was reasonably quiet despite the proximity of the freeway. The only thing that stunk was the $30/day plus tax for parking: OUCH. $67 to park for 2 days is a complete rip off. Obviously I’m staying here if I’m parking in your lot! Would stay here again though, just because of location alone. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

very bad

Aug 13th, 2019

Firs of all we booked a 3 people room with a king size bed and a studio room . However wen we finally cheeked in there was only the 1 room with a king size bed and when I complained they only brought an extra mattress into the same small room. 3 people all together. This should be against hotel's policy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice hotel great location

Aug 10th, 2019

This hotel was conveniently located near universal studios, a 5 minute complementary bus ride from the hotel entrance ran every 15 minutes. Fernando at the concierge desk was very helpful and booked us on a 4 hour tour of Los Angeles, this included a very informative tour of stars homes, famous streets and landmarks and two stops, one at the walk of fame and the other at the farmers market. The hotel wS very clean, rooms spacious enough. Showers good and powerful. The breakfast could have been better, more selection but on the second day we were offered pancakes which we had, and they were great. I also was able to purchase a latte at breakfast. The pool area was clean and we had complimentary towels, which were huge. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good stay for Universal Studios visit

Aug 8th, 2019

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) stayed at the Sheraton for 2 nights for a visit to Universal Studios. The hotel is in a great location for a visit to the park with a shuttle running all day. We waited quite a while in the morning for the first shuttle, but we went straight to the park because it was full (no stopping at Hilton). On the way back, we just walked through the Hilton parking area and took the elevator down, super easy. We did self park at the Sheraton and didn't need the car during our stay. We had a 2 double bed room which was tight but fine for just sleeping. The room was modern and newly (maybe a few years) renovated. Everything was clean and tidy in the room. The bathroom had a cool look, but there was a frosted glass window that looks to the room. If you're using the bathroom at night, the light shines into the room. Also, the sink is flat so doesn't drain well when you're brushing teeth, small annoyances that were ok for a short stay. The proximity to Universal is the best part of the hotel. The first morning we got up early to go to the park so didn't notice much hallway noise, (we were the ones making it I guess). The next morning, we tried to sleep in a bit but were woken by families heading to the park so the walls are pretty thin. It was still fine for our short stay. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're going to Universal because it's super convenient. However, if you're looking for a relaxing stay, I'd look elsewhere. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Worst Hotel Experience I've Ever Had

Aug 7th, 2019

Staying at Sheraton Universal was the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. I had booked a room with a balcony and pool view and had been looking forward to staying here ever since I booked a few months prior. My husband and I were going to be busy in meetings for the two days we were going to be in LA and all I wanted to do was wake up and have a cup of coffee on the balcony overlooking the pool in the mornings before heading out each day. Well, this fantasy was crushed the moment we stepped into our room... 1) Checked in around 11:30pm after a 12hr travel day - we were given a room on the first floor which should have been my first signal that something was wrong, but I think I was too tired to realize at the time 2) ‎Entered the room and went straight to the windows to check out the view I was surprising my husband with and it was a view of BUSHES SURROUNDING A PARKING LOT. No pool in sight and obviously no balcony. It was on the ground level looking at one of the worst views I had ever seen outside of a hotel room. This room should not even be offered to any paying guest, in general. 3) ‎i immediately called the front desk and told him I didn't have a pool view or balcony and the gentleman said " Well, that was the wing you booked". I said wrong answer. He then tells me they are completely sold out and cannot offer me the desired room until the next night (our final night there). This was his only solution. There is nothing advantageous about staying at a hotel near a major tourist spot (Universal Studios) especially when you are not actually visiting the main attraction - there is no way I would have booked this hotel if it werent for the type of room I was being promised. 4) ‎i requested the first night to be compensated the next day before moving rooms and the front desk gentleman went to ask his manager and came back to me saying his manager (Centovio?) could only offer me a $100 food and beverage credit. Seeing that we had dinner plans and had to leave the next morning for another meeting, it would be a bit of a challenge to use this credit, but I took it nonetheless. We ended up ordering extra early room service for a rare breakfast (that was it's on fiasco) only to find this $95 charge on our final bill upon checkout. When I spoke to Centovio, he said he didn't remember granting this credit and he would have to check with his employee when he came into work that day which was 3 hours away. 5) ‎THIS WAS ONLY HALF OF MY PROBLEMS WHILE AT THIS HOTEL! Amongst the extremely poor management and customer service (lack of care overall) our first room had a dirty towel rolled up under the sink, a leaky toilet, and an unwrapped coffee filter (see pictures). Second room had hair on the shower wall leftover from last guest(s) and the sliding door to the balcony only opened about a foot wide. Needless to say, I will never be booking this hotel ever again.
