Great hotel with top tier amenities and a warm friendly staff. We took advantage of the spa, the great food, and had a great trip. Highly recommend this hotel for any possible trip to this town. Can’t wait to return TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointed by room, great staff!

Nov 23rd, 2020

We have stayed in McCall for ur anniversary before, as we live in Boise, and love the mountains. We decided to stay here for the first time and it was a real mixed bag. Most of the staff was really great except for the steakhouse. Lost our reservation, no apologies. Having said that the room definitely needed some work. Here's what we observed- the room was really dark with dark gray wallpaper and with only three lamps in the main sitting area it was pretty dark by late afternoon. It would be nice if they would add a floor lamp or something that would be much brighter. Seems like a cave. We notice in the bathroom that one of the sinks was cracked all the way through and several places and the spigot the water came out was a little bit loose. The second sink had a really really loose spigot where the water came out. There was a loose tile right outside of the shower that look like the caulking had fallen off. The mattress was really really soft resulting in waking up with a backache two days in a row that was pretty bad. As soon as I got home no back ache so it was definitely the bed. Pillows were really soft and not supportive and thin. I went to use the iron to touch up my husband shirt and it was completely covered with black gooey stuff they would have gotten all over his shirt if I hadn't noticed it. I put the hot iron on a towel and all of the black sticky stuff came off. We called the front desk for a new iron which they brought down. There was chipped paint on the doorway going into the shower and the shower curtain was very frayed and worn looking. There was a coffee maker and coffee in the room but no free sugar or creamer, pretty surprising given how much we were paying for the room. There was a sign in the fridge that you had to pay for water bottles and creamer. Water bottles I understand but little tiny containers of creamer really? There was also a safety issue with the hot water being really really too hot. Residential hot water heaters always have limits on how high you can set them so that people don't get scalded. With children in the hotel that could be a real problem. Not sure what happened and we did talk to someone at the front desk when we checked out about these maintenance issues so they were aware. While I was in line to speak to the person at the front desk another customer was in front of us. He had said that when he pulled a towel on the towel rack and the bathroom wall rack fell off the wall. Pretty odd. It just seems like the hotel is maybe not being maintained the way it should be? That's my only guess I don't know if they're really hurting from covid and their numbers are down? They do seem pretty money-driven with some of the things that they did. The person after I complained about the maintenance asked me if I wanted to buy a water bottle on my way out? Really? We may go back to the hotel McCall where we stayed before and just upgrade to a larger room there never had any of these kind of problems there. Great View really nice, too many running and screaming kids in the hallway the regular restaurant was great the steakhouse not so much separate review TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Mountain Gem!

Nov 19th, 2020

The Shore Lodge never disappoints! My wife and I have stayed at this property many times and keep returning. There is so much to do in the surrounding area in all seasons- great skiing in the winter, water sports in the summer and not to mention the hotel itself has a great list of activities for the family. Its one of the only places that I have been where I feel comfortable letting the kids do their own thing knowing that they will be safe and have a blast. I will keep returning to the Shore Lodge! Great place to stay in McCall

Nov 11th, 2020

We had a beautiful suite with a deck overlooking Payette Lake. Lots of room. Sitting area and sleeping area. Bathroom large with double sinks. Comfortable beds. McCall had their first snow which added to the ambience TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great hotel, avoid the restaurant

Nov 2nd, 2020

We stumbled upon the hotel on a spur of the moment trip to Idaho. The lobby and room were very nice. Recommend ordering from the dine in menu. The restaurant was a bad experience, although the food was good. I have traveled all over the world and enjoyed meals in world class restaurants. This hotel restaurant, known for its steaks, has THE most self-consciously pretentious, unbearably snooty and really ridiculous staff I have ever had serve me. Yes, I also get tired of 20-something careless hipster staff at mediocre family chain restaurants, ok? But this. It was insufferable, laughable determined pretentiousness...from the opening parley about still or sparkling water (tipping us off that there would be no free water here!) to the chilly dining room and cold, unfriendly was just not enjoyable. Our meals took forever to arrive. There was not so much as a house-made curated cracker to tide us over. The ambience was cold. They do employ a fine chef. The meals were very well prepared, or maybe we were just so famished by then that we would've enjoyed anything. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
