Dusty and Dingy Room

Dec 27th, 2020

Three of us visited and booked a standard cabin (misleading - it’s really a standard hotel room). Cost $9,000 pesos per night for two small matrimonial beds in a room that was not clean, dated with run down furniture, and the satellite TV wasn’t working. There was so much dust and cobwebs on the ceiling that it activated my asthma and I couldn’t sleep since I wasn’t able to breathe. Thank goodness for my mask for the pandemic, it helped as a dust filter. The bathroom is spacious but freezing cold with no heat making it into the room. Overall this was not worth the price paid and almost not even worth staying (in that room) at any price. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Magical Place

Jul 30th, 2020

We had the chance to go as a family, It was an amazing vacation... kids loved horse back riding, the pool is so gorgeous. The lake, to paddle and kayak its so peaceful and beautiful. Really feels magical. We stayed at Casa Lago; it has a private jacuzzi, kitchen, fire-pit. The master bedroom has a steam shower. The kids where having a blast, nature walks are a must. Not as advertised

Dec 24th, 2019

Firstly as previous reviewers have mentioned the road up there is terrible especially in a small car, it is one lane up the mountain with sheer drops to one side and frequent logging trucks coming round the corner at you makes this a scary trip up and no cel service in case you need assistance. The "all inclusive" is not as advertised I would call this full board because the food is only available between certain times of the day - breakfast 8 to 11, lunch 2.30 to 5 and dinner 8 to 11pm and no drinks until 2.30pm??? Really? We arrived at 1pm and had not eaten all day but had to wait until 2.30 to eat finally we bought snacks from the gift shop. No bar opens until 5pm and for the prices they charge that is crazy! Cabins are ok not as luxurious as we were expecting, wifi so so and damp in the walls. The fire is switched off in the morning although you need the heat on all day. The shower was great by the way. Chairs in the room are very uncomfortable. Overall I wouldn't go back unless the price was halved because as it is I don't feel that I received value for money actually I felt ripped off. beautiful, quiet, peaceful

Dec 24th, 2019

We had an excellent weekend at Sierra Lago! The staff were all very helpful and friendly, the beds were comfortable, and the amenities were great. We enjoyed bike rides around the lake, checking out the horses, swimming, hot tubbing, hikes, walks, kayaks, games, and just generally enjoyed the quiet too! This is a wonderful place if you want to slow down and be taken care of. As a family with young children, our only adjustment was really trying to make it to bed time with that late of a lunch and dinner. We knew ahead of time, though, and made the most of it. The food was excellent a couple meals and "just good" the others. I think the small menu would get boring if you stay more than 2-3 nights, and the "kids menu" is bland without really any fruit or vegetable options. It was a bit tricky to get enough potable water in our cabin, but, again, you can just plan ahead. Those were the negatives we experienced. Like everyone says, the drive is slow and rough for the last 8km, with the 10km before that slow but not as bumpy or turny. But it's an adventure! And it feels really nice to know you are actually "getting away." Again, just know ahead of time and make the most of it. We saw plenty of low-clearance vehicles in the parking lot but were happy to be driving our small SUV. We would highly recommend staying here a few days and nights either as a family or as a couple, hey, alone would be very lovely too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice Place

Aug 19th, 2018

Great place to spend some quite time. Beautiful nature, good food , horse back ridding, lake. Cabañas are nicely equiped. Bathtub is great. Little bit hard to get there but worth it. Will definitely come back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
