Amazing view, great hospitality!!

Mar 29th, 2020

We had such a nice stay at the Sir Adam Hotel. The staff was so enthusiastic, very friendly and helpful. Our room was nice and clean, the bed was amazing (had the best sleep since ages) and we woke up with a terrific view over Amsterdam. Had a lovely stay and will definitely come back! Highway to the danger zone

Did you used to party hard in college but lately have had trouble staying awake past 10? Do you only pretend to "get" the music the kids are listening to these days, and would actually rather rock out alone to the Top Gun Soundtrack in your room on vinyl? Looking to feel young and alive again, but in a safe and clean environment? This is the place for you. With the trendy decor, themed elevators, pumping music (don't worry I couldn't actually hear it when in my room), and a swanky penthouse bar, it's quite easy to forget the dull monotony of the daily grind and feel way cooler about yourself here than you probably deserve to - I know I did. As for the rooms - the basic ones (boutique & deluxe) are a bit on the small side, but lighting and design are top notch. In my opinion paying a little more for the view across the river was worth it. The breakfast had a few quite interesting options and enough variety and quality that I'd consider it worth the price. A note for any budding musicians out there - the guitars on the wall aren't actually playable they're only there for "decoration". Someone needs to tell them they're doing it wrong - that's not what guitars are meant for. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful hotel

Great staff, theming was on point. Loved the themed elevators, really made me laugh out loud. The room was well equipped and bed was super comfy. The hotel is also easily accessible with the ferries going all night. Will stay here again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great birthday night stay

Feb 18th, 2020

Easy to get to from free boar after a bit of a trek due to trains bring cancelled! Friendly welcome with an upgrade due to being my birthday and a well needed drink on arrival too! Taken to our room which had been decorated and had a lovely view watching the boats go by! Lifts were fun too. Room was quirky, clean and had everything needed including some cool denim dressing gowns! Amazing shower also! We enjoyed a relaxing cocktail on a nice chilled out part of the bar before bed and some nachos! Burgers for lunch were fantastic. Overall a very chilled out, quirky and funky place to stay. Swings and moanabouts

Feb 8th, 2020

Lest this review seems totally negative, let me begin it by complementing the hotel's Butcher restaurant upon their burgers. Very, very good! But sadly my praise stops there. We got off to a poor start... after trudging around Amsterdams streets for a few hours was closed. We couldn't get in! Eventually we caught the eye of a staff member who let us on through a fire exit door, explaining as he did so, that they'd closed the doors to rehearse for a private function that evening. Hell, it's a hotel... you have to let your guests in! Reception then informed us that the restaurant would be closed that evening because of the private function. We were given a tin of beer each & our room was upgraded as compensation. The room was ok. Quirky but ok & had a good view. There was a tired old recorplayer in the room with 4 or 5 severely scratched LPs. Hardly the musical experience described in the sales pitch. We managed to get a burger each delivered to the reception area (the only place available other than our room). As said earlier, it was very good. But the music from the private event (now in full swing) made talking to each other impossible. We had a couple of IPAs & turned in. The location was good... a free five minute ferry & we were at the Central train station. Gluttons for punishment we rebooked for a deluxe room two days later (after persuading the hotel to accept the much cheaper priced rooms booked on line). We returned. This time the doors were open & we checked in easily. The room, however was much smaller than that of the first night (see pic). I queried it & was told that the room was a deluxe because of it's view. It was already twilight & I could vaguely make out the shape of a barge drifting by. We left at 06.00 the next morning so not much of a view then either. This evening the restaurant was open. Whoopee! Service was slow & when we eventually did manage to order we were told the food wouldnt be bought to our table, but we'd have to collect it from a hatch into the kitchen ourselves. We did. Two more really good burgers! Call me an old cynic. I probably am. But, Sir Adam, for £140 a night you simply must provide more than a couple of good burgers. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
