Overview

Luxuriously appointed rooms and tasty on-site dining
On-site bar is pricey

With its ornate furnishings and contemporary artwork, this downtown New York City hotel ups the style ante in the sophisticated and swanky Tribeca neighborhood it calls home. The Smyth Hotel's decor is rich in chrome-colored accents and quirky design details like ostrich-embossed leather walls and floor-to-ceiling glass-enclosed showers. Apparently the property's designer knows how to please, as guests rave about their experiences in the luxurious accommodations – flat-screen TVs, REN bath amenities and Dean & DeLuca gourmet minibars are just a few of the added touches popular among visitors. And when the minibar is not enough, the hotel's farm-to-table restaurant, Little Park, received high praise from recent guests, though others noted the on-site bar is quite pricey. However, sticking around the property to dine is not necessary when many of New York City's best eateries surround the hotel, which sits on West Broadway between the West Village and the Financial District.

Modernist furniture, rugs and book-lined shelves give the lobby a snug, chic, Scandinavian vibe, while the sound-proofed rooms are a soothing combo of charcoal carpets, walnut paneling, and slinky bathrooms with irresistible rain showers.
