Great hotel adjacent to train station

This hotel is AWESOME! Right outside the train station and 3 minute walk to the center city! Super luxurious, quiet, and comfy! And they do extra steps against the Covid! Breakfast is really good too! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I was Disappointed

Bed: 5,5/10 We staid at this hotel at the end of June 2020, so most of the service at the Hotel was closed. We had planed to order Dinner from room service, but as we checked in around 4 pm we were not ready to order Dinner at that time so we ordered a Club Sandwich to share. That was a lucky chois as we could due to that escape ordering dinner. The Sandwich was really terrible. Clearly fried in old frying oil. When we complained to the reception, they apologized and told us that due to the Covid-19 only trainees were in the Kitchen. I find that an unacceptable reasoning, as a they were still a five star hotel in spite of the Covid-19. That might excuse limiting the service, but not the quality. The room was dark and not very clean and there were water damaging very clear on one of the walls of the room and the bed was terrible. The possible thing about this hotel was the reception staff and waiters. They were at all times very polite, positive and helpful TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Worst reservation team ever

I have never spoken to a more arrogant reservation team ever. They dont deserve to be in 5 star service category. Very bad. Had asked for a date change for my upcoming travel (due to travel bans happening as a result of covid 19) which was dealt with arrogance. Client handling department is the worst i have experienced in my life. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great option

+ve - room with bathroom is bigger than those with showers - high quality bathroom amenities including bath salts - steak at the restaurant was delicious - coconut sorbet top draw too - breakfast pancakes were lovely - free FT at breakfast - complementary overnight shoe shining service -ve - spa was closed but not mentioned at booking - gym options limited whilst the spa/gym was being refurbished - conceirge we're 50/50 one personally recommended a great restaurant, another just used Google Subjective - the individually wrapped tea bags in plastic is absurd TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Noise! Noise! Noise!

I’m now a very happy ex-guest of Sofitel Munich. Why? Well, I’ve just checked out and am going home to some peace and quiet. If you want a relaxing in-room experience at your Munich hotel, avoid the Sofitel - at least until 7th April. Up until this time, this hotel has decided to ‘renovate’ its Wellness/Spa on the 1st floor. As a result, many, perhaps even most, rooms will experience high levels of intrusive noise. My room was on the 4th floor. From 07:45hrs to 17:00hrs I was treated to a relentless barrage of drilling, buzz-sawing and hammering. I can only feel for the poor devils located on floors 2 & 3 because I could hear every sound as though it was in the room next door. I know for a fact that, like me, many guests complained to Guest Relations staff about the noise. All they could do in return was to shrug, smile nicely and offer their apologies. Of course, it’s not their fault this work is taking priority over the comfort of guests, so perhaps the hotel management should consider offering discounted room prices for the duration of the renovation to those clients worst affected? Or how about staggering the work so it starts later and finishes earlier each day? (Um... fat chance of that, methinks.) So what else of the hotel and its facilities? Well, who cares? If they can’t get right the basic requirement of providing hotel clients with a quiet, harmonious bedroom experience what does it matter about the restaurant, bar, conference rooms etc? They become irrelevant. As if to rub salt into the wound, the hotel has also chosen to shut off all water supplies for a few days between 02:00hrs - 05:00hrs. So no toilet flushing, hand-washing etc between these hours. I had no advance knowledge of this (apparently, Reception staff should have informed me at check-in) so when it first occurred I thought the hotel had serious plumbing problems! But no - just more ‘maintenance’ issues. Whilst the timing of the water shut-down means it won’t seriously inconvenience most guests this, together with the noise issues, suggests to me that this hotel isn’t quite in control of the essential ingredients that one expects from a well-organised and well-run 5* hotel dedicated to customer comfort. Overall then, my short 2-night experience with Sofitel Munich was highly dispiriting - very much a case of style over substance. I shan’t be rushing back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
