Underwhelming and no Covid protections

I was looking forward to my first stay given the glowing TripAdvisor reports. In fact, I turned down the GM offering me a free stay so I felt comfortable in writing this warning to guests to choose another property. First. There is one receptionist without any back up. Yes just one guest facing employee. My issue started when there was no heat in my room and I called for help. After 20 rings I went to front desk. Asking to speak to the MOD, she politely explained there was none.🥺. After being told there was no heat, just AC, the security officer brought two room heaters WITHOUT a mask! Yep Ignore all the signs, employees don’t wear masks. I watched the valet agent walk through the hotel with no mask. With hotel employees ignoring hotel policy and local laws, with no maintenance staff to address issues, with no managers on duty, one cannot call this a luxury hotel. There are many options in Philly, support hotels who put our health first, who staff hotels at levels that warrant their prices and reputations as a luxury hotel TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

From the moment I pulled up the valet was fantastic. Samir was polite and quick, I felt very confident leaving my vehicle with him. When I got inside I was greeted by Atilla, who I believe is the manager. He was so professional, polite and made me feel right at home. Even in this rough time of COVID I felt secure and right at home. The room was even nicer than I thought and the bathroom was awesome. Great location! Would 100% reccommnd! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

all around amazing experience. Very nice room. Fantastic staff. Mykyta in valet was perfect. Recommending this hotel to everyone. During checkout valet was super fast and efficient. I got Mykyta again and they topped even my first meeting with them. Absolutely incredible valet experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I absolutely love this hotel! The location is perfect. The staff is welcoming and attentive. The rooms are extremely clean and very spacious. I celebrated my birthday during my stay, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a birthday cake in my room. The staff made it very special. It will not disappoint. We will be returning for sure. I have stayed and dined satisfactorily at this property before, so was happy to participate when a promotional deal appeared. I stayed on a Tuesday night in a king room on the top floor. Air conditioning was slow and labored; the room was never cooler than 74 degrees. The front desk advised that I should turn the fan on HI and wait an hour. Because I am sensitive to health and safety protocols, I didn’t think it wise to change rooms. The bed linens were clean. The shower had several hairs that were not mine. The carpet had some lint and did not appear to be carefully vacuumed. The TV did not turn on; this may have been a problem with the remote, but by the time I had settled in to turn on the TV I was not inclined to call reception and have someone swap the remote for me. This was a lovely property when it opened in Philly, and I have gladly stayed here for events as lately as 2017. Since then, the hotel is showing wear. The carpet in the hallway was worn and torn in some places. The staff is no longer as cheerful or helpful as they used to be. Even though I’m a local, I will no longer be recommending the Sofitel for Philadelphia visitors. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
