Amazing stay and staff!!

Sep 6th, 2020

Came across this hotel and decided to book based on location. There are so many nice and delicious places to eat at walking distance. When we first arrived, the valet team was very quick, attentive and helpful. Luis, Christian and the rest of team were spectacular on check in day and check out. At front desk, Liza and staff was very welcoming and answered all of our questions that we had. They made sure we had everything we needed for our stay and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Our stay went better than we have expected. They are all very knowledge and can guide you for any questions that you have, could be food, things too, places to go etc. We couldn't be more happier and will stay again at the hotel in the future. Mixed Bag, Don’t Stay Here

Aug 22nd, 2020

Having stayed here before I was looking forward to returning to the Solemar. Sadly my anticipation quickly turned to disappointment. Except for the window shades—which were falling apart—all of that disappointment was service and employee related. First is the hotel’s “destination fee.” Over half of the amenities covered by that fee were unavailable due to the pandemic—yet they didn’t reduce that fee. This is reflective of the hotel’s practices; see the review where the hotel refused to cancel a booking due to the pandemic. Second is the valet parking staff. She tried to keep my electrical car charger simply stating “I thought it was ours.” Third is the front office staff. Heaven forbid you need change to tip the valet parking or housekeepers! Front desk no longer maintains a bank to provide this valuable service. Making matters worse was the rude response when I asked for a 12 noon checkout time. I travel frequently and I have literally never been denied an extra hour—that is, before today. Fourth is this hotel’s pets policy. I was awakened several times by the neighbor’s dogs were were left unattended. I learned from third party web sites that this hotel was housing pandemic workers; that fact was not disclosed to me at booking. Lastly, I’ve noticed that the hotel’s owner replies to every negative review with their phone number attempting to “make it right.” There’s nothing that will bring me back here, I won’t waste any more of my time on this place—and nor should you. Kudos!!!!

Jul 30th, 2020

Visiting from Oregon for a work/fun trip to SD last weekend. I had the pleasure of getting put up at The Solamar Hotel. Had such an amazing experience. I feel the need to let them know. From the valet to the front desk staff, I was blown away. With all that’s going on I felt like they turned their service levels up. Particularly the valet staff, they were so personable and helpful in all interactions. I loved everyone’s recommendations and the roof top cabana inside the hotel. I travel a lot for work and am rarely set aback. Kudos to you guys, I’ll be back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great hotel—guests like Adventurer635775 are out of touch

Jul 19th, 2020

Recently stayed here because I was having work done at my house. It was clear the staff was doing everything humanly possible to make the stay as comfortable as possible during the craziest time of all our lives. Wonderful experience, which makes it all the more disappointing that people like Adventurer635775 use this platform to manifest their bitterness now. I genuinely feel sorry for someone who is so miserable s/he cannot recognize and appreciate people trying their best under very difficult circumstances, but instead gets spun up over his/her missing “gift.” The fact that you had to resort to such petty grievances is a testament to the remarkable efforts of the brave employees who come to work so you can enjoy America’s Finest City, which earned that title in part because of our consideration and empathy for others. What a lucky person you are for any slight imperfection to set you off. I just hope you realize your good fortune in time to use it to lift up others, rather than put them down. Fantastic property!!

Jul 18th, 2020

I had a mini staycation at the hotel Solemar this weekend and absolutely loved it! The room was extremely comfortable as was the bed. The amenities were outstanding and the property overall was very warm and inviting. The staff at check-in and at the pool we’re all such wonderful people. I really felt at home and cannot wait to come back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
