Above expectations, smart and relaxing indeed!

All good, especially spa-zone and breakfast and design. We stayed just one night (being locals) with our middle-sized dog and can just confirm positive feedbacks we’ve heard from friends. Thanks indeed TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A pleasant stay

Aug 25th, 2020

We stayed here for five nights at the end of our trip after spending three nights in Tallinn and four in Riga. This hotel was chosen because of the large swimming pool and Spa area but we only went in there on two occasions due to the fact that it was so busy with many children jumping about. Due to the number of people in there it was very difficult to get a proper swim. It was confusing trying to reach it and the changing rooms in the Ladies area the showers were communal - alright if you like that sort of thing ! Due to the size of this place you had to remember where your locker was so we used to go down in our robes. There were just a few sunbeds by the swimming pool which were always taken by families. There were many jacuzzis, steam and ice rooms. I think the area is open to membership by local people so this could be the reason as many hotels do this due to the expense of maintaining spa areas just for residents. Our room was on a higher floor and overlooked a large building with people who could look across so we had to keep the curtains closed at certain times, although we like light in the room and no nets. The twin room had very comfortable beds and two separate duvets - a good idea and in many hotels outside the UK. It was quiet and we slept well. The room, bathroom and bedding were very clean. The bathroom was quite small with a shower and colourful toiletries. We asked at Reception for a magnifying mirror but were told that these were only available in the deluxe rooms. How weird. Understandably, they couldn't move us to one because they had none available !! Hardly the reason for an upgrade anyway. From the many photographs it appears that most rooms have the same striped wallpaper and carpets which are more difficult to keep clean compared to the latest trend in laminates. The breakfast room is accessed across a small bridge and we found the food excellent with so much choice. Amusing was the Porridge on Water, and there was also Porridge with milk, which was good. Also, sparkling wine - for breakfast, perfect to start the day. We had two evening meals in the hotel and the food was really good and well priced. Olya and Anastasia in Reception were so helpful and their English was excellent. They arranged visits to both the Faberge Museum and Winter Palace to avoid queuing but when the ticket was presented at the Faberge Museum we were told in no uncertain terms to get in the queue and were not given the Audio system which should have been available with the ticket. After a day of sightseeing a mobile phone was placed on charge and to our astonishment all our pictures of Tallinn, Riga and the Faberge Museum had vanished. The hotel IT man tried to help us and so did the Bellboy but they could find nothing. So one of us went back to the Faberge Museum with a camera, as surprisingly photographs are allowed, and it was a very good price to get in. We mentioned this to the Concierge and after contacting the Manager it was agreed to reimburse us the cost of our ticket, although it was still much more for entry to the Winter Palace if purchased at the hotel. We had a private viewing of dans le Noir restaurant but decided against this, especially as one of us is a vegetarian, although we were assured this would be noted. The hotel is situated an inconvenient distance from public transport and also local Restaurants and even a Uber driver could not find it without our help. It was quite cold in mid September while we were there but we really enjoyed this beautiful City with its amazing history, architecture, palaces, museums and wide river setting. We stayed here before the dreadful Covid 19 pandemic spread from China so cannot comment on whether the hotel has a paid-stay-at-home policy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Decent hotel, good location

Aug 5th, 2020

fairly conveniently located hotel if you take taxi or don't mind extended walks. no subway or public transportation in proximity. However, Palace square or Peter&Paul's fortress are 20 min walk or less. Very good gym facilities (actually the best I've ever seen at any hotel). Nice pool area and various steam rooms/saunas. Saunas temperatures is unacceptable, though, to be called a sauna. Pool can get crowded at times, but manageable. Breakfast is ok, nothing fancy ... not 5 star in my book, but good enough. Lobby impressions are mixed: no ambience, hallway feel, the bar area is not inviting and selection is very limited. Still - good value for your money TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Simply the best

We had a fantastic stay in this hotel. Everything was absolutely amazing and well beyond our expectations. Nadya checked us in and she is a credit to her Hotel, City and Country. She was really helpful and friendly and got us off to a great start for our visit to St Petersburg. Everything in the hotel was wonderful. The Spa area is out of this world. Not worth to stay

Reception desk was poorly coordinated and staff barely was able to handle the the line, rooms have bad soundproofing and spa is overcrowded by visitors not hotel guests. Breakfast has no vegan options except badly looking steamed vegies TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
