Somerset on the Pier, Hobart

Jul 16th, 2019

Fabulous location, close to some wonderful places to eat and drink. The bed was super comfortable and the layout of the apartment is lovely and spacious. Parking can be an issue, but mostly we had no trouble. Walking distance to many attractions and the ferry to MONA is opposite. We saw some beautiful sunrises and sunsets here. The views are stunning! Toxic glue smell. Also, don't expect any form of help if you have an issue during your stay.

Jul 12th, 2019

A section of the hotel was being renovated during our stay. A strong, toxic smell of industrial glue made its way into our room, making us feel sick. We were told by reception that there was nothing they could do for us, as there were signs in the lift alerting us to the renovation works (but we were never told prior to our arrival or during the booking process). We were eventually offered a new room, but this had also been affected by the glue smell. We were told that we could not check out and be refunded for our remaining 2 nights as we had booked through Agoda (despite Somerset taking the payment directly from us). After hours of back-and-forward, we were told we would be refunded for our remaining nights and we could check out. By this point, we would have been checking out anyway. Getting the refund from Somerset has also presented challenges. It has taken a month to finalise. Our initial follow-up emails went unanswered. We called and were told we’d be sent a refund form – we were instead sent a form to authorise further charges to or credit card. More phone calls and lots of angst later, our refund eventually turned up. It's very unfortunate as the hotel is in a great location and is in pretty good condition – you’d have a nice stay as long as no issues cropped up. We’re not fussy people – we’ve never left a movie early – but their management of an issue, and the subsequent follow-up service was truly appalling. A simple ‘sorry’ as we left would not have gone astray. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fabulous location and apartment

Jul 10th, 2019

Loved the location. The apartment was updated and lovely and comfortable. The staff were very friendly. The sun was streaming into our apartment no 3 all day and was very warm as the cold outside was very chilly. There is noise on Friday and Saturday nights on the pier and I imagine in the summer it gets very crowded but we loved the location. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Right smack bang in the middle of the Hobart Harbour precinct is a 1930s warehouse converted some years ago into serviced apartments with sublime views of water ,boats and the harbour buildings You can walk everywhere , food options are enormous from fish n chips to left ear of newt in jus We are fussy about a bed and the huge comfy beds here are a delight . We had water views , laundry facilities,a big bathroom plus a kitchen if you want one . The courtesy and service provided by the staff was exceptional Well done TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location, great views

We stayed here recently to attend Dark Mofo and it was in the perfect location - right in the middle of all the action. The bed was comfortable, and the rooms were clean and looked after. The view was good too. The stairs to the loft bedroom could be off putting if you wanted to go to the bathroom during the night - best not to drink too much! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
