Most beautiful resort I have ever stayed at

Jan 17th, 2020

You have to love taking a sea plane or a helicopter in order to reach this resort. Once there you will be in AWE of the scenery and the amenities at the resort. The rooms have THE most beautiful water views and dinner here is an experience with the freshest fish (salmon, wild salmon) I have ever eaten. All dinners were superb. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Sonora Resort

Some some of the best grizzly bear viewing ever. The Homlaco Nation does a great job. Our guides, Kalvin and Ian were the best! All of the staff at the resort were very welcoming and professional. Wouldn't hesitate to return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Absolute bliss

Just back from a perfect stay at Sonora; gorgeous setting, gorgeous hotel, and fabulous staff. Where do we start? The hotel's remote setting is so calming/relaxing, and the staff attentive without being intrusive. We had the most gorgeous room, directly overlooking the jetty below. The property is thoughtfully laid out - lots of quiet spaces, and seating scattered thought the grounds; our favourite was right on the water's edge where we watched inquisitive sea lions splashing around. The food was superb, without exception, accompanied by gorgeous local wines. Try ice wine if you haven't before. And the beer wasn't bad too. The staff in the restaurant remembered our preferences after just one order - so impressive. We were also lucky to have an incredible bear-watching experience; the bonus is the hotel keeps a number of lenses that guests can borrow. I did, and got some amazing shots of those lovely bears. Our salmon fishing trip was less successful, however, but we were at the end of the season and enjoyed watching the porpoises having fun in the sea instead. We'd definitely go back. It's expensive, but in this case, you definitely get what you pay for. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A True Gem of the Pacific Northwest

Sonora Resort is amazing. I never knew anything so beautiful could exist in BC. The clouds drape over the surrounding islands like sheets of snow. The sea is crystal clear with occasional friendly puffs from wild sea lions. The cuisine is always a feast for kings and queens of all dietary preferences and needs. The staff is incredibly friendly and receiving to all. The rooms are extremely clean, intricately adorned, and inviting you into rest. You will not be sorry you came all that way to Sonora Island. Whatever the occasion might be - if you are getting away from it all - Sonora is the place! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Simply amazing in every respect

Oct 10th, 2019

This resort manages to exceed expectations in every area from arrival to departure, the staff are amazing, all passionate about their role in the resort. The food and wine excellent, the service everywhere is amazing, nothing is too much trouble wherever you are in the resort. The guides and trips with Stui and Geoff being incredibly informative on the bear trip and the eco boat trip, both these are “ must does”. We tried many of the facilities on offer, from the virtual golf, the pool table, the sauna, the hot tubs and the trails around the resort. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
