Best B&B in BC

Jul 8th, 2019

I have been to this B&B and restaurant off and on over the past 30 years. It has grown but still keeps a special go to place in my heart. The views are magical and the rooms are the definition of comfort in every sense of the word. They now have a casual dinner room as well as their formal dinning room. Large herb garden where the Chef's select their flavors to create masterful creations that will burn memories in mind for decades to come. 40 miles north of Victoria and well worth the drive. There are many superior eateries in the immediate area to choose from too! Relax and enjoy the best BC has to offer. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Stopped for a coffee and pictures

Jul 5th, 2019

The property was absolutely beautiful. The view is breathtaking. Wonderful decor inside. We could visualize how nice it would be to have a wedding here. The coffee was pricey and our server was not very good but I think she was new. The other server had given us a lot of information of the property before we decided to stay for a coffee. She was very helpful. There was a bit larger group there which brought the noise level up. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

What was then and what is now...

Jun 17th, 2019

We stayed at the Sooke Harbour House about 10 years ago. The food was amazing, the views were breathtaking, and the service was impeccable. What has happened to this hotel? The Vichy shower was broken, there was very little wood for the fire, and the wine in the room was a few grades down from our last visit. The rooms have TV now, and we didn't like that. It's not what we were there for. We loved that the cell service sucked, it's one of our favourite parts of the experience of Sooke! It's a great place to disconnect from the digital and reconnect with inner peace and serenity. The food was, OK in the main restaurant in the morning, stunning view. At night we ordered food in the new Copper Room and wondered if they hired an amateur cook, because we were given 3 kinds of potatoes and a steak I could have cooked much better myself. The quirkiness of the hotel we remembered was diluted, and we missed it. The service was a good as we remember but the feel of the place was just different. Maybe it is because we are now different then the first time we experienced the Famous House? Walks on the Whiffen Spit were thoroughly enjoyed each morning... will miss the island, perhaps I already do and that is why I am for the first time in my life writing reviews! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don’t waste your time and money!!

Jun 14th, 2019

Huge disappointment!! Pictures misleading. Room was tiny, dated and stale. Torn rug, cheap decor and accessories. Soaked tub was dirty. Old worn furniture. This was a $317 a night room!! Worth $99. Beyond overpriced and huge rip, off. The dining room even more so. Food sub par. Stayed in finer motels. Would never go back and urge people to stay way!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful!

We stayed at the Sooke Harbour House Hotel and Resort prior to going on a cruise. The Hotel is quaint, somewhat like a lovely bed and breakfast. The rooms are delightful and they have magnificent views of the water and the Olympic Mountains. We absolutely LOVED our visit. The staff is very friendly and welcoming also. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
