WONDERFUL OFF-STRIP HOTEL AND CASINO
Sep 20th, 2020
Just returned from a six night stay at South Point Hotel and Casino. Wonderful stay! The rooms were clean and spacious. Having a Keurig coffee maker and a frig in the room is an absolute plus! Due to Covid-19, there was no daily housekeeping, but the housekeeping staff were always quick to respond whenever we needed any clean towels, more coffee, etc. The casino is nice, well-lit and bright. They also have a bowling alley and movie theater. The food at all the restaurants we visited was tasty and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Las Vegas. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
The worst customer service....EVER!!
Sep 7th, 2020
We stayed for an equestrian event from Sept 3 a Sept 6 and we accidentally left a medication in the room fridge. When we realized and called to have it picked-up or shipped, we were told it had not been kept cold since being found! Obviously, at this point it is no longer good. We were basically told by the Director of Hotels, Shelly Essex, ‘Well, you should not have left it in the room.’ Well, if we could all be as perfect as Ms. Essex, what a world it would be...huh!!?? Her lack of common decency/customer service was astounding. I will most likely making other arrangements in the future. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
South Point Plus and Minus
Aug 24th, 2020
As a local we decided to head over to South Point for a few nights - we had stayed there when the casino first opened and wanted to see how things progressed. Room Notes: South Point rates are decent and the rooms are large, they offer Keurig coffee makers, a frig and a safe. South Point checks your temperature at the check in desk but not for anyone entering the casino? We found this to be odd since we have been going to numerous other casinos and the protocol has always been to check everyone entering. I was hoping to give South Point a higher rating, actually its a 3-1/2 stars because of the cleanliness of the elevator board, room and hallways. Lets start with check in and the casino. The Staff was Outstanding, Covid-19 compliant. Front desk accommodated us right away - the casino is clean with attendants handing out masks - friendly and very kind. The Casino was fun and we played the tables and slots. The tables offer low minimums which is nice also the waitress staff was always around. Plenty of modern slots - a real plus for South Point. Our room however was a different story. It had been poorly cleaned, with remnants of the previous occupant. Under the bed you can see debris that were never vacuumed, the floor with partially wet from moping & the floor wasn't even really cleaned. After walking around my shoes were sticking to the floor. In a pandemic world you would have thought that the room would be sanitized and spotless - I was afraid to touch things, so we cleaned the room ourselves including wiping down the floors. (Gross) Note: there is no daily room service in any hotel - so you have request new towels and amenities if needed. The hallway leading from the elevator to the room was also not vacuumed. There's a seating area between the elevator and hallway, it had cigarette ashes on the floor for two days . On our last night someone just left a beer can in the same area that wasn't never picked up & was still there when we left the next day - it made the room experience very dumpy. The Pool area and service is very good, The pool waitress Destiny provided excellent service and was helpful with pool info questions. As in the Casino there were attendants passing out masks to anyone who needed them. Buffet: It's open and sanitary - at least when we went in the mornings for breakfast (it was still early) -so there weren't many people They provided hand sanitizing stations throughout and everyone was wearing a mask. The food is served for you by kitchen attendants (wearing masks and gloves) - all the food is protected by glass, this will probably be the future of buffet's for some time. Overall a number of good food choices, we didn't notice any bagels or toasters but we weren't looking for them. The omelet guy was a bit unfriendly and had an edge - my wife ordered eggs Sunnyside up, he barely cooked them and when she questioned it he said "this is what Sunnyside egg is" - that was horrible service, he should just said I'll cook them a little longer, what a jerk. I don't think well ever come back - if your looking for a discount it's ok TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
3 1/2 Stars
Aug 1st, 2020
Let me start by saying there is nothing wrong with South Point. I would rate it 3 1/2 stars or a little better than average. The room was clean and roomy. The staff was friendly. No complaints except that in my view, the bed was not all that comfortable. There was nothing that I experienced in the hotel that set it apart from others in the same price range. It was pretty average. The shower is a tub/shower combo which the newer hotels have moved past. I’ll likely stay here again as I enjoyed the poker room. The casino amenities and food options are a plus but that’s to be expected in a Las Vegas hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Really nice hotel
Jul 30th, 2020
We have been to South Point before. It is clean and fully operational--valets, bellhops etc. The buffet was open and very good. No wait to use elevators. Really a nice casino and experience. Everything clean and nicely maintained. Very professional, even during Covid. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
