Absolute Gem!

Jan 7th, 2021

This place is so adorable! It is sparkling clean, well kept and has such a quaint, retro feel. You’re within 2 blocks of a public beach, and there’s great Cuban food right across the street. It’s in a quiet area so after a day or night on Duvall, it was great to come back to our little haven at Southwinds. The front desk gave us a pass to get free towels and chairs at the beach, which was an awesome little perk that we really appreciated! If we had a higher budget, we would still stay here, if that tells you anything. The affordable rate is just the icing on the cake. As for our sightseeing recommendations, make sure you visit Fort Zachary Beach, it is a fantastic and beautiful way to spend the day at the beach. Also, make a reservation for Latitudes restaurant, they take you over on a boat, very cool experience. Book well in advance though. Ignore the bad reviews of this motel, those kind of people needed to stay at the Hyatt. If you’re looking for more of a local feel, you can’t beat Southwinds, will return! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Motel is usually an oxymoron!

Dec 30th, 2020

This really was a great place to stay on our 2 night visit to Key West. Great location! We were skeptical at first when we pulled in because we normally don't stay in motels. When we stepped into the office, it was very clean and the person who checked us in was very friendly. We were impressed with the cleanliness and size of the room, it was updated and had a bar top to sit at by the kitchen area. There was a small fridge, a microwave, a coffee pot, just what we needed. When we stopped by the front office to get breakfast recommendations, Karen and Sophia were so friendly and helpful. They arranged for a golf cart to be delivered to us and let us in on some local tips. I really didn't want to give this place a great review because they make places like these get busy and harder to get into but they really did deserve it. We would definitely stay here again. Worst stay of my life

Dec 30th, 2020

TERRIBLE guest experience, incompetent staff, and broken facilities galore. The shower knob broke off while I was showering so that I couldn't turn it off. The bottom was clogged so I was standing in filthy water. The television was also broken. I was treated like garbage by the front desk staff who double charged me for my stay. Multiple errors on my folio, and didn't return my calls to correct their error. Abysmal treatment all around. Unacceptable!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Key West Vibe

Dec 26th, 2020

My wife, adult daughter, and I stayed here right before Christmas this year. We took a short overnight trip from Fort Lauderdale. The hotel is in a great location, very near the Southernmost Point, Hemingway’s House, and the Lighthouse. It’s is an older hotel, so it has that vibe you get in the Keys. It is clean and the staff are very friendly and accommodating! They will help you make your stay amazing. On-site parking is covered with the resort fee which is helpful in Key West. We didn’t stay long enough to take advantage of the pools on the property, but we did take advantage of the beach chairs included in the resort fee. I will stay here again when we take our next out of state visitors. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Perfect location!

Dec 18th, 2020

This was our 2nd time to stay here! Cute, clean rooms, friendly staff, easy check in. They have 3 pools on the property, and a bar called The Tipsy Rooster. Perfect location, close to The Southernmost point and Duval Street. There is a deli and Cuban cafe across the street, and lots of restaurants close by. We loved our stay! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
