Great Quick Trip

Stayed at this hotel for two nights during Covid. There was sanitizer at the door upon check in and every time I walked through the lobby there was someone constantly cleaning. The hotel itself is very old but it has a great charm to it, the room I stayed in (410) was very big. I had no problems, there was a hair dryer and toiletries. Something I never experienced when staying at a hotel before was that the front door is locked so in order to enter you need your hotel room key. I find that a very good safety feature. All in all I enjoyed my stay at the SpringHill Suites in Baltimore and I would stay again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very Unsettling Experience

While I did not have my name on the reservation, I checked in with the appropriate person and was given a legitimate room key by hotel management. Later that evening, I returned to the hotel by myself after a few drinks. Concierge said that I would not be allowed to enter the hotel without the reservation holder. Despite being intoxicated but not physically out of control, I was escorted off the premises by two policemen in the lobby. I was told that I would only be allowed back into the building if I paid the concierge $100. They left me alone and without my belongings in Downtown Baltimore at about 2 am. The reservation holder was also offered a chance to bribe the concierge to get me back into the hotel. General manager Jason Davis did not take my accusation seriously when I reported it the next day. It is a shame that the Marriott company is reflected in such a negative light. I felt taken advantage of that night. This is such a beautiful building but my experience will be forever tainted by this incident. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Creepy Elevators ..

Lots of issues with the Elevators and had to use the stairs a few times.. They gave us a very uneasy feeling with weird noises .. they definitely did not feel or sound safe. Our suite was just OK. Netflix access in the room was a plus though but I do question the cleanliness of this place!! Also this was our view from the 11th floor which of course is not advertised when booking! YIKES. Just there

The location was good but that's about all I can say that is not double-sided. For example, the room itself was ok but the configuration was weird and there were some damages that hadn't been repaired. The elevator smelled like someone had a smoking party in there. Lobby was clean but it was loud. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Terrible Customer Service!

This hotel must be trying very hard to save money. The main lobby and rest of teh first floor was freezing (front desk person was wearing a winter coat)and very dark. The hallways upstairs don't seem to be heated. The shared areas are a bit rundown. The room could have been nice but they put us in a handicapped room without telling us. My main complaint was the room was EXTREMELY dark and the phone did not work. One skimpy desk lamp that was inadequate to do any work at the desk. The other bulbs were very low voltage and only one small spotlight in the front area - couldn't even see in the closet. The big issue was I called the front desk and requested another lamp[ so I could do some work. I informed them of the issue of the phone and was told it those items may not be able to be addressed but she would contact the folks to see. She then called me (on my cell phone) and told me there are no other phones nor other lamps in the entire hotel that I can use! Even though we had already unpacked she said I could change rooms but there were limited rooms as some were having the carpets cleaned. I asked "why can't they take a lamp out of one of the rooms being cleaned?". Apparently the "Engineer" was not willing to move one and came to my room to tell me that only he could arrange for another lamp and, again, that there were no lamps that could be brought in for me to use for one night. He only offered to take a shade off the one standing lamp in the room. We had to argue back and forth before he agreed to bring a lamp. Should a paying guest have to go through all that for a lamp in a totally inadequately lit room? The front desk woman was totally intimidated by the "Engineer". when we checked out the front desk person apologized and said she would try to get us some additional points for our troubles - but that did not happen. There are plenty of other hotels in the area - don't waste your time here! The parking folks were very helpful and courteous. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
