Love it

Great hotel, very close to all the beauties that Kyoto offers, comfort rooms and very nicely done outdoor bath - in a freezing cold night jumping in one of those is real fun. Staff is very nice and helpful and its really spotlessly clean. Had a great few days there. I would if course recommended it. M x TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely hotel in a serene setting

Returned from Japan a couple of weeks ago, and had the pleasure of staying at the Suiran during the end of Golden Week. The setting on the river at the base of the forest was stunning. A short walk to the Bamboo Forest, and Monkey Park, and a number of temples nearby. The property itself was beautifully situated on the river. The rooms were very comfortable and quiet, with gorgeous views of the forest. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. While it's a bit out of the way from many of the sites in central Kyoto (about 30 minutes by cab), it was nice to be in such a lovely setting. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This is a Trush Collection,not luxury collection.

If the manager of Suiran want to know more about my stay, my confirmation number from marriott is 86380863. 一一一一一一一一一一一 一一一一一一一一 一一一一一一一一一一一一一 一一一一一一一一 一一一一一一一一一一一一一 一一一一一一一一 一一 When we arrived Suiran, a bell boy take care of our luggage, and no one lead us to the lobby, we need to find the lobby, same as the people who just walk into Suiran and taking photos. When we was checking in, front desk doesn't tell us do we have breakfast , do we have welcome gift as a Marriott member, just let me sign a agreement and take deposit from my charge card. When we get into the room, room number 106, we find out some problem in the room, and a big problem which we cannot accept. We contacted the front desk, and they were preparing a new room for us. But this hotel is a luxury collection and is a Category 8 hotel in marriott brand, these problem should not be able here. These was the problem in room 106 and you can check from the photo. 1. we find some water stain on the desk which placing the cups. This is not a problem if i am staying in a bnb. 2. The guide book in the room was scrawl by someone before. I can sure no one check this before i check in this room. 3. The telephone in the room is dirty. This is one of the point i can not accept, i am staying in a hotel which cost triple of a normal marriott hotel. 4. There was a rubbish on the ground in the toliet. This should not be happen even i am staying in a motel. 5. The windows door side have lots of scratch. If shows me no maintenance in the room. 6. A BIRD EXCREMENT ON THE TOP OF THE BATHTUB. AND IT IS NOT MADE ON THE DAY I STAY. IT WAS DRIED.THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE IN ANY HOTEL, EVEN A MOTEL OR BNB.THIS IS A LUXURY COLLECTION, THIS IS A CATEGORY 8 HOTEL IN MARRIOTT. After i find out the problems, i called front desk and they let me wait and prepare a new room for me. 2 hours later, i came back and check in the next room, room 112. And i find out some serious problems again. 1. A booger in the guide book. There was scrawl in the first room guide book, and now they didn't check the guide book. 2. A booger on the button in the bathroom. Can you image a button you need to touch, and there was a booger on it? I was angry and call the front desk again. Front desk staff and a clean worker come in, and when i show the booger in the guidebook , the staff use her hand scratch the booger but she cannot scratch the booger down. I can sure she was doute to me. After i also show her the booger on the button, she ask me ehat she can do to fix this problem, can she clean it. I can only say yes. And she let us stay in the cafe. But also no one lead us to the cafe. When we arrived cafe, it's 4pm, and the happy hour of hotel is 5pm. A waitress come and give us some menu and leave, we don't understand why the staff let us stay in cafe. And after i ask the waitress, she said the menu is free for us. We order a tea set and there was a alcohol in one of the Japanese dessert, and i heard the waitress talk to there staff in Japanese and said my girlfriend is not able to have alcohol because she is under 20, and they just change the menu to a pudding, with out notice us. And when we finish this set, the waitress come and asking do we need more, and she said: all of these are free, you can order. I was very angry with this say, i am not going to take advantage from your hotel, i just want to stay in a clean room. When we finish and back to the room, it still have problem, because i didn't told the staff all of the problem when i check in this room at first time. I would like to know is this hotel only clean what their guest told them, and after this time, i can sure they only work on what i told them. 1. The Cover of the guide book which was a booger inside, is still dirty same as before. 2. The two boxes corner in bathroom are damaged. 3. There are a spiderweb on the bathtub curtain. I was extremely angry with what this hotel done, and i can sure this hotel is not match to a Category 8 and a name called Luxury Collection. I just want to stay and experience a real luxury collection. Not a Trush Collection. If the Manger of this hotel can see this comment, welcome to contact with me. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful property in Arashiyama

We arrived via taxi to see a bellboy jog over to help with luggage. Comfortable chairs to sit in for check in and the receptionist offered to reserve a complimentary taxi service to Kyoto station for our checkout day. A different staff member guided us to our room with our luggage. The room had stunning views of the Arashiyama area and an amazing in room wooden hot spring with onsen water. The water is heated to 41C but did not have a cold tap to lower the temperature like other in room onsens we stayed at. However, the staff quickly adjusted the water temperature for us. We asked concierge to make a reservation at a nearby restaurant but was fully booked. She made great alternative suggestions and we loved every meal. This stay was definitely the highlight of our Japan trip and made the Kyoto area our favorite destination in Japan. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Tranquil feel

This hotel was classy. Right from the entrance to the reception, you could get the sense that they had culture and class. The location is nested between some tall trees and a lake on which you can have a private canoe ride. There was a champagne open bar for 2 hours every day offered to guests when we were there. Lastly, the in room massage was magnificent and highly recommended. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
