Breathtaking property - hidden fee

Although I have skied at Sundance, generally we are summer visitors as we think this is an especially nice and good weather and other ski resorts have more extensive skiing. We have visited Sundance for decades and I could not recommend the location and scenery highly enough. The Foundry restaurant is exceptional, and the easy 3 mile each way walk to Stewart falls from the top of the lift is one of our favorite trails in the world. Some of the place is “worn”, but in a way that truly adds to the charm. If you are renting a room, the River Run area is walkable to the restaurants and lifts, but for most people the Mandan area will require a drive. I was disappointed on this trip to find 35.00 per night in a previously undisclosed “Environmental Impact Charge” (5 percent). I believe that is a ruthless and deceptive practice that unfortunately a few resorts still do. They said it was for recycling, but recycling is a basic minimal service level. Overall, highly recommended, and worth the price! A truly special place. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Past its prime

Stayed in a mountain suite and was very disappointed. I last stayed here probably 15 years ago and I don't believe they have updated the rooms since. Sundance is in such a spectacular setting but it was really a disappointment when we stepped into the room. The units appear to be individually owned (since there are lock-off cabinets and closets), so perhaps some are more updated than others -- ours definitely was about 10 years past due for a makeover. It was also nearly impossible to get reservations for breakfast/lunch/dinner, I would have expected them to save some reservations for hotel guests but they said they do not do that. This is challenging since it is so remote and any other options are 25 minutes away. We go to Park City a couple of times a year and finally decided to try Sundance again - but you get far better accommodations in Park CIty for about the same money. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

great setting; terrible service, and food

May 16th, 2020

We arrived at the Sundance car cafe at 1:07. Great location and view. Menu on line was not what they had (e.g., no kids food). Order taken at 1:20. Food arrived 2:30. Hamburger not cooked, none of the condiments arrived, none of the requests filled. They took off hamburger, but a longish drive with good view TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We just love this place!!!!

This place is wonderful. Great accommodations and many options. Wonderful service; the best I have seen. Luxurious, but not too haughty taughty. Great food options on site, and their own private ski lifts and area. What could be better. This is our 3rd Spring Break in a row here, and we have already made plans for next year. We have stayed in Mandan, River Run, and this year The Pines (Upper Hollow). We already made reservations for next year. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Sundance resort is incredible. Great location, amazing resort, amazing staff. Ski school staff were excellent. Owl Bar, Foundry Grill are excellent dining options. Can't say enough about this place! Beautiful scenery, excellent skiing - stayed at Wildflower. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
