Another Great Stay!

Aug 10th, 2020

This was our 2nd time staying at Sunscape. We were upgraded to an oceanside room which was great (our room the first time around wasn't so great). The service and cleanliness are fantastic, and we really appreciated all the safety protocols in place. I can't say enough about how wonderful all the staff was! Every single person we encountered said hello, asked how we were doing, if we needed anything. They were simply amazing. I wish I could give a shout out to them all individually, but there were just too many! I do want to give a shout to all the bartenders at Tortuga, they took great care of us. Other pros include the beach, lovely as always. Some of the food, specifically at El Patio and lunch at Portofino. Although there were renovations happening, it was not intrusive or really even noticeable. A few cons though...although our room location was amazing, the bathroom was not in great shape (leaks, drips, noises, broken faucet) but I'm hoping the renovations will take care of that. The other side of the food...unfortunately breakfast was subpar every day. Very minimal offerings, very confusing on what we could/couldn't order a la carte. We were told several times that we could not order things but always saw others getting special orders so we really didn't know what was going on and it caused us to have very disappointing breakfast experiences. Several days I just ate hashbrowns. Although a similar dinner menu at Sunny Side, the food was never as good as El Patio. We would have loved to use the pools but the water was hot so we only swam in the ocean. Not a big issue but we missed out on most of the activities because of this. One other comment I have is regarding the survey at the end of our stay. It seems very distasteful that you ask who are favorite employee is. It's not just the question on the survey but the fact that this drove several of your employees on the last day to solicit our votes. We loved all the staff but this left a bad taste in our mouths at the end of our stay. Overall, we would stay here again. Thanks! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Upgraded to Secrets Aura Cozumel

Aug 9th, 2020

Our friends and we originally booked at Sunscape in Puerto Vallarta for April but with CoVid had to be rebooked several times then moved to Sunscape Cozumel but that didn't open in time so we moved to Sunscape Sabor Cozumel for the last week of July. Because Sabor Cozumel was still under a major renovation, we were moved to Secrets Aura Cozumel. That was a pleasant surprise because we were able to eat at restaurants at both resorts. We really liked the pool by the lobby of Secrets Aura. It was quiet and foam pads on the beach loungers. The AC wasn't working in our friends' room when we arrived but maintenance got it working. The humidity was incredible. I wished they had dehumidifiers. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great stay!

Aug 7th, 2020

First let me say how I pleased I was with the level of safety & sanitation precautions that the resort is taking. Upon arrival we had to sanitize our hands, had temperature taken, completed a health form and our luggage was sprayed with sanitizer as well. As guests we were not required to wear masks but the resort did an excellent job of making it easy to social distance from other guests. The employees did wear face coverings all the time. There was hand sanitizer available throughout the resort at all times. The resort is operating at 30% capacity therefore not all restaurants and bars were open. This was not an issue whatsoever! Drinks were plentiful and food was delicious and a good variety. We had a great visit and felt completely safe the entire time! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Experience!

Aug 6th, 2020

We really had a great time here! We have been traveling to Mexico for a number of years and this property really brought back some nostalgia. The restaurants were nice and the food was excellent! the oceanfront view for breakfast was the perfect way to begin the day. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The beachfront is actually part of the protected reef and snorkeling 10 feet from the water's edge was some of the best! fish, rays, and coral are all living right in front of your room! They're also building LOTS of brand new rooms there that are going to be fabulous. the fire show on the beach was cool too! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Jul 30th, 2020

I was so happy to be back at Sunscape Sabor for their reopening. This resort is like my 2nd home & the staff is like family. I arrived on opening day & was very pleased with the safety & sanitation precautions that the resort has adopted. I was asked to sanitize my hands after exiting van from airport. All staff wore masks 100% of the time & social distancing markers were in place everywhere. Each guest was required to complete a health assessment form & have their temperature taken prior to check in. My room was ready & my luggage had been sanitized before it was brought to my room. Additional precautions in my room included that the tv remote, AC remote, & toiletries provided were all individually packaged in sealed packages. I thought the resort did a great job with restaurant & bar service since operating at only 30%. All restaurants were using tongs to put down clean placements & napkin wrapped silverware. Portofino was open daily for breakfast which was a smaller buffet than normal & a server plated your selections for you - no omelette bar at this time. There was also self serve fruit plates & yogurt available. Lunch was available at El Patio. Dinner was available at El Patio or Portofino & they swapped menus every other day. Before I departed Portofino had also started lunch service. I thought the food was greatly improved since my last visit in a January (with the exception of breakfast buffet - which was adequate for my needs). The salads, fajitas, poblano soup & the Provenzal fish at El a Patio were all excellent. I only had dinner once at Portofino & had the excellent lasagna from Da Mario menu. I did have lunch at Portofino on my last day & enjoyed the Tuscany sandwich. Only Tortuga bar near the main pool was open but I did see servers at both pools providing drink service. There is some significant remodeling being done right now but it was not an issue or noise problem for me. All of the hotel rooms in the garden section were being completely renovated. Some of the ocean front rooms were being painted. I also noticed a huge improvement in the water pressure in the shower!!! Nice. I had a great visit & look forward to returning soon. Special thanks to all who made my visit special: Juan Carlos, Antonio, Irving, Pablo, Karina, Andrea, Rigo, Rucel, Justo, Margherito, Mario, Leonardo, Reyes, Santos, Wilberth, Gaudencio, Marcos, Luis Alfredo. I also enjoyed several great days of scuba diving with Dive Palancar which is located on site, beach front, near the Secrets pier. These guys always take great care of me: Luis, Juan, Alex, Ramiro, Chuy, Gustavo, Alberto, & El Capitan. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
