I had a purple guitar mounted on my wall in my room :) Oh was that Sting who just passed by? Hell yeah! :) The rock era has left the building for the youngsters but this hotel has the legacy still. This is the best hotel on earth! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Love this hotel. Service is amazing. Rudy in room service and Seabass in Cavatina provided excellent service. The grounds are beautiful. The Villas have everything you need and huge showers. Housekeeping was so friendly and always there when you needed them. Great hotel. Great Service. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Last night I had dinner and attended a fab show with a dear friend and we had So much fun! I forgot just how amazing the Marquis is. As soon as you walk thru the front doors you are transported to a tropical, rockers paradise where the food is awesome, the crowd is super chic, the staff is attentive and kind. The live bands last night were the icing on the cake and we really enjoyed ourselves, thank you for creating such an epic and historic space. By far my favorite hotel In LA! We were so excited to stay here. We arrived from Australia jet lagged and grumpy. Check in front desk staff were exceptional our suite was ready at 10am when check in isn’t until 3pm. We were eternally grateful to be checked in early. We had a lovely suite on the ground floor by the pool with double doors to the pool and our reserved sun beds. The bed was to die for like lying on a cloud. The suite was lovely so was the bathroom. Housekeeping were excellent and the pool was clean and quite no rock n roll here. Thank god. The location excellent right in the heart of it yet your in a quite beautiful location with no street noise and beautiful lush gardens and a waterfall. We Loved the photographs, the bar and the gallery. At night the hotel is so pretty all fairy lights. The food is okay basically average and unfortunately the acoustics in the room woeful, we get it’s an older building but you can hear the footsteps of the guests in the room above, the plumbing when used in other rooms, conversation from the room next door plus we heard a guest SNORING next door. I thought I’d imagined it until my husband made mention of it. This meant you got woken up, everytime someone went to the bathroom or snored. Meaning not a good nights sleep. Plus the air conditioner was a bit noisy. The spa was awesome I had a very good massage. We would love to stay again but won’t because of the acoustics in the room. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

What to do? I mean really the obvious question here for me is should I go back to this place or NOT? I checked in on Tuesday 20th of August, 2019, around 6.30 pm after a hectic LA traffic, with a female receptionist, her name starts with C---cannot remember her name for the life of me because I was beyond troubled with her. Her first mistake started with NOT welcoming me with a smile and/or a proper acknowledgement of basic human talk.She secondly did not know how many nights I was staying at the hotel since she did not bother to read the printed paper from her office in her hand. And when I explained to her, she shrugged her shoulders and kept being rude. She was totally uninterested with me, and being plain rude. She was, however, very busy chatting with her colleague named J about the singing guest walking around. Yes, a singing guest. This is Sunset Marquis. And this is why I come to places like this to be near to the creative people. There was a thin, blonde braided African man with lots of tattoos singing very quietly and dancing very modestly. It felt SOOOO right in the place. At the place of famous Sunset Marquis. However, the receptionist lady, the one her name starts with C, was very interested gossiping about him to her colleague J during my check in. She kept saying 'he has been like this. Very vocal. Very Vocal.' DURING MY CHECK IN!!! Lady, whatever your interest about his being vocal, can you do it during your coffee break? Not during my check in!!! That is what the coffee breaks are for. She has just dropped me there waiting for her forever, and talking to her coworker. Can you check me in first? Can you also NOT gossip about other guests in front of me a guest who is hoping to be checked in less than an hour at the expensive and landmark hotel? The landmark hotel which is famous for SERVICE. Not gossiping about the other guests in front of the other guest. The troubles did not end there. On the day of my check out, I had to call Directory FOUR TIMES and waited FORTY FIVE minutes to get my bags to be picked up. I kept calling and they kept saying they are handling it. No nothing! I spoke to two different ladies and one of them told me that she would call back. No!!! No one did call. And guess what boyss and girls, the receptionist lady C was working there again on that day. Is she responsible for this also? On the Check out day, her colleague standing next to her printed out totally wrong bills for me. Asking me to pay Someone else's Bills. So no one pays any attention to the work they are doing at the Front Desk. And the Bell Boys. Remember how I waited for them to show up for 45 minutes. And no one did. When I was at the reception, one of the bell boys was just hanging out there and doing nothing. Like nothing. What the HECK is this? And now the VERY GOOD STUFFF. The room and the property is CLEAN! I mean like TRULY CLEAN. The room is nice and appointed. The Cavatina, the restaurant, is out of this world. The food was BEYOND GOOD. The servers, waiters, and Vi on the day I arrived, are PERFECT. They attend you all the time truly. They deserve every penny of the tips I left. That restaurant and the vibes of the people helped me to finish my assignment. The food was VERY tasty. I am very picky about my pancakes and french toast. They were PERFECT. You know who else is also great. Michael the manager. He came in after my 45 minutes of waiting and attended my luggage to the car including weighing the luggage. And then, he kept apologizing. I was sooo aggravated at the time, you cannot believe it. I was trying to get to my international flight. So imagine that waiting.....He was truly nice and attentive and I felt like he was very sorry. You know what else I also felt. The vibes at the Front Desk Area. There is something bad and grossly inadequate going on with those staff. So I had this wonderful experience with the Cavatina and Housekeeping, but very bad experience with the bell boys and the Front Desk. This is an expensive hotel. One cannot afford to have such a bad Front Desk. No matter how Michael tried to make it up in afterwards, it is plain INADEQUATE. Alas, Mr. Keith Richards graces us with his picture in the lobby.
