Hotel

Really great stay. Beds are very comfortable. Large rooms. Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable. Great view of river walk. We would stay there again easily. Just cross the street from hotel is the river walk. Walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don’t do it

Aug 18th, 2019

Very, very bad experience. We had two conjoined rooms for 4 days, and had several things happen during our stay that gave us a bad overall experience — especially for the amount of money you’re paying for rooms and non-existent “services.” Service was absolutely horrible. Nearly everyone at the front desk was extremely rude, incredibly unorganized, and not helpful whatsoever. Be prepared to have to call 2-3 times, and show up in person too, in order to get anything accomplished. Half way during our stay, I got a voicemail from the hotel saying that our room has been cancelled. We were upset because we clearly had the confirmation emails from booking online and paperwork from in person check in that proved a 4 night stay. We frantically started calling other surrounding hotels on our way back to the hotel to speak with them. They apologized and said that it was a mistake. Someone was checking out and said our room number by mistake when checking out. They checked this woman out, and gave her my information to sign off for to check out. They told me that she said that isn’t her name and they realized they checked the wrong room out. It’s concerning that they gave a copy of my information to a stranger — my name, address, maybe credit card information, and God knows what else. You’d think that they would take security and privacy more seriously, and simply ask for her last name as well as room number at least at check out. They did apologize and assured they took all my information/wrong paperwork back from this woman and shredded it, however it’s hard to believe them since they were so unorganized and clearly had no idea what they were doing. That should have never happened. They also didn’t even do the bare minimum and at least called me back after the first voicemail to tell me that it was a mistake and there was no need to come back to the hotel to retrieve my things. We had to cut a nice vacation day short because of this ordeal. Ridiculous. We had no idea other than the voicemail and our cards not working for our room anymore. Housekeeping is non-existent. They only cleaned our room once in the 4 days we stayed there, and only after we called twice to have them do it. They come to your room at 8:30am and wake you up asking to clean your room. If you turn them away because you’re sleeping or getting dressed, they never return. We called twice asking about having our room cleaned, and front desk was very rude and unhelpful. They said that most of their customers are business stays and leave their rooms before 8am, which is why they come at 8:30. We asked them to start coming at noon instead, because we’re on vacation and get up later. Only once did they actually show up. Not only that, but they only made the beds and didn’t do anything else. Left all of our trash, didn’t bring any new towels, and didn’t change the sheets. My makeup was all over my pillows still when we returned. I slept in my makeup residue for 4 days. My father ordered room service and left the remains outside our room. They never took it away. After 2 days, we called and asked them to please clean it up. Only after calling twice and tripping over it every day did they finally pick it up. After another day of this, my father picked up all of our trash and put it outside our room in protest. We thought maybe they needed some help or a small reminder of things to look for when cleaning a room. We were also tired of staying in a trashed room. (Pictured below.) Our bill for two rooms for 4 nights was over $3,100. At that price, we deserve good service. We will not be returning here ever again. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Suite not worth it.

Aug 17th, 2019

We booked a suite, when we got there it "looked" clean. You could tell that they did a very lack luster job as the pillows had make up and other stains on them. They text me to ask if everything was up to my standards, I am not sure why as they didn't reply when I said it wasn't. I went down to the front desk to express my displeasure and was shuffled to the next person as fast as they could by two different people as they didn't want to deal with my question or they had no idea. This was a common happening with the front desk as they seemed not very organized. Don't be fooled if you get a suite with a "whirl pool", its just a bigger than average tub, not a whirl pool. Make sure if you drive here you have take in account the $57 parking a day. You can park across the street at Aqua Radisson where it is $50 a night and the staff there is a lot more pleasant and willing to help you. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Unbeatable Service, cleanliness, and the best stay for Chicago. (International Traveler)

Aug 17th, 2019

I lived in Park Hyatt residence in Chicago for many years up until 2006. I’ve noticed multiple issues throughout my travels in the United States with The Hyatt, and other hotels. I’ve tried several hotels throughout the US, and I have used this hotel in Istanbul, and in Switzerland. I decided to give this a try since next week I’m having surgery for Cancer, and I had a quick stop at layover for one night. Everything about my stay was outstanding. AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE BEDS, PILLOWS, ROBES/ SLIPPERS, and Bath and tub option. Best sleep in years, didn’t even need a TV. Fridge was available, and a fantastic desk and chair if you’re working. They went above and beyond to make sure that I had a relaxing stay (without even knowing my condition), and upgraded view knowing I use to live there and I badly wanted to spend a day seeing the lake and Pier in a view far better then The Hyatt at 800 N. Michigan. Times became tough and after many surgeries my life is not as extravagant, but one day I’ll be working again and able to afford the finer things without worry. I don’t know what’s going to happen to me health wise and I was worried about the friendliness, and cleanliness, of course as surgery coming up the last thing you want is to be sick. ****** Each and every individual has such a caring heart at this hotel. When I ordered room service, it came so much quicker than what they said it was going to be. I didn’t pay top dollar, but they treated me as if I was a penthouse guest. Luggage was taken down ASAP, and they helped me to get it in the Sedan. Everyone has a smile, including guests, and nobody here had any sort of bad attitude. They treated me as if I was a friend, or a family. The Manger of this hotel put together an amazing team. I will never stay at another hotel in Chicago as long as I live, and all of my friends and family will be staying at the Swiss from now on. I wasn’t able to drink, but before my next destination for surgery I stopped in to try to get a quick bite to eat near the entrance and what a fabulous decision. The bartender there was sympathetic, intelligent, caring, and he was also one of the best servers that I’ve had. I hated to leave the hotel. I only wish that there could be more places like this that could put you at ease when you travel. If life is stressing you out and you need a place to get away, or if you’re passing through Chicago don’t go anywhere else. It’s a small charge for the hotel compared to others and they treat you as if you’re spending $500 up a night. God Bless you all for the best hotel experience I’ve had in many years. Attended MSBC 31 Conference

Aug 17th, 2019

So last year, our conference was across the river at the Sheraton and we were bummed that they moved it this year across the river at Swissotel. Well, we weren't bummed at all and I believe they'll be returning for 2020. EXCELLENT hotel and staff. Nicole checked us in, was able to swing a nice upgrade to a corner executive suite for $100 extra per night which I thought was a steal. I must say that Andy & Hugo were most excellent to us at the Amuse bar & restaurant. They took great care of us which wasn't easy with a convention full of radio folks. Joseph gets a nice mention too for taking good care of us in the morning. Let me grab a coffee then come back for another & taking breakfast up to the room at 6 am. I did have lunch at The Palm, very pricey but it was good. Heard dinner was very-very pricey but good as well. Another bonus was this is a pet friendly hotel and you'll see a bunch of dogs, and they all got along. Highly recommend. Location is great with easy access to Lake Shore Drive. Only complaint would be finding the hotel parking at 303 E. Lower Wacker is a bit of a hassle for the 1st time. Was able to purchase parking in advance for a discount. That ran $160 for 4 nights. And unlike the Sheraton Grand Chicago they do not offer a club floor, with a room that has light breakfast & evening hors d'oeuvers. Nonetheless, highly recommend because the staff really look after you without being overbearing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
