Taking care of Nurses

May 3rd, 2020

My coworker and I are nurses currently assigned at McCormick Place on the Covid-19 unit. After a long shift we decided to stay downtown and not drive back to the suburbs. We called ahead to check in. Asked if we can get a room on a higher floor with a view, I did mention we're nurses. Upon walking into our room we were pleasantly surprised that they upgraded us to a gorgeous suite on the 31st floor. Very clean, huge, 2 bathroom suite with a view. Great service and friendly staff. Sumptuous stay

Mar 31st, 2020

Some of my family stayed here while they were visiting from out of state, and they had a wonderful stay. The staff were professional and courteous, and checked in my family swiftly and with no problems. The rooms were spacious and the beds were quite comfortable, and room service was prompt and accurate. The location is great, right in downtown Chicago near the Loop and several amenities (restaurants, museums, shopping, etc.). Some rooms offer a beautiful view of the lake, while others offer a great city view. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Let me start by saying that I was so looking forward to our stay at the Swissotel Chicago - for a very special occasion. And it was off to a great start when the bell man greeted us and escorted us to the front desk. But that was the end of our pleasant experience with Swissotel, even though I had called in advance to let them know this was a special occasion. We were greeted at the front desk by a cold and unwelcoming individual named Nicole Thompson. She was horribly rude and unfriendly. When I inquired about the bill because I was surprised it was more than anticipated from my online reservation, she seemed bothered with my questions and made me feel like I was being problematic, instead of just trying to get clarification. We left the front desk feeling very unwelcome and it left a bad taste in our mouths, but I wasn't going to let it damper the day and instead, looked forward to our pre-booked city view room... instead, Ms. Thompson put us in a room on the 4th floor directly in front of the elevator, which is neither a river view or a city view, but a concrete view of a roof of a building next door - and in the distance, a little sliver of the lake. Even thinking about it now upsets me so much. So we were left with a room without a city view, paying more than I expected, and didn't get the $10 per day credit for not using housekeeping service. I am so disappointed with my stay at the Swissotel and will never recommend it to anyone. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

If I could give zero stars I would

Mar 21st, 2020

Arrived about an hour or so before check in & I felt as if we were forced into an upgrade otherwise we’d get a room with full beds (even though I was booked a king) I also felt like I was deceived by the upgrade I was told we’d be upgrading to face navy pier however we were not So we had to room change. But when we arrived to the new room it was dirty. Bathroom was not cleaned and previous guest had left things behind. Which made me question the cleanliness of the whole room. Also I was not told of urban fee or what was included so did not get to utilize any of the inclusions with it. When I Contacted the property w my concerns and I was told I’d be receiving a call back however I never received a call back. 100% disappointing. would not recommend TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The most comfy beds

Mar 17th, 2020

Very comfortable king size bed. TV was large with a lot of channels. You can pay extra to rent movies still in theaters. Great view. The river view is magnificent and even if you have a city view it’s very nice. Great location. Very clean which is important. They do charge extra for a microwave which I think is standard in most hotels but apparently not in a luxury hotel. I guess that’s really my only gripe so have to say I enjoyed my stay.
