Beautiful views with plenty to do

Apr 18th, 2019

This is a beautiful resort with plenty of restaurants and entertainment to keep you busy. The Orange Sky lounge has an quaint outdoor balcony with fantastic views of the mountains and golf course. If you can be there at sunset it's awesome! The pumpkin seed shrimp were not only huge but the flavor was outstanding. The cantina had great food, live music from just above, and the service was great. We also checked out the outdoor lounge area at the Shadows Cigar Bar. The service here was impeccable and the cigar selection was better than some shops around town. My only reasons for not giving five stars on this property is due to poor check in process and limited gaming area. Check in was allegedly guaranteed by 4:00 pm but ours was not and when we questioned why they said it was due to housekeeping. We were upgraded on one of our rooms so that we could get partially settled in, but the second room wasn't ready until almost 5:30pm. When we were near the rooms, housekeeping was often in the halls for long periods of time chatting, so maybe that's something they need to address. The gaming area was quite small for a resort this large. On a Saturday night it was almost impossible to get a seat at a card table and nearly just as difficult for the machines. We would have spent a lot more money gambling had there been room. Overall this is a great resort and highly recommended. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Dear Mom and I had a mini stay-cation...Good for golf and gambling.

Apr 14th, 2019

My dear mom and I came to Talking Stick Resort for a quick get out of the house mini weekend for food and fun. The hotel is very nice. They have made sure the rooms are luxurious and warm. The bathroom felt kind of industrial, but, it’s a bathroom! Room looked out over the mountains in the distance- very pretty when the sun was setting. One thing I found both cool and concerting was the ends of the hotel hallways. They are clear glass from top to bottom. Looks like it is not closed and offers views of the desert landscaping. But, it looks like you can walk off the end and fall a few floors- not okay if afraid of heights. Good for a in-town getaway, and it was discounted, so it was worth it. I wouldn’t stay unless I got a discount because I live in town. If you like to golf and gamble, this will be great for you... but I don’t participate in either- hence wanting the discount. Went there after Christmas. Great price and clean comfortable rooms. The food at all the different eateries was great. The casino adds to the fun and the pool area is great. This resort has it all for a good time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

If you are not looking to stay at a casino this may not be the best place for you

Apr 13th, 2019

I was attending a golf school for 4 days at the Talking Stick Golf Club (which was wonderful) and stayed at the hotel for it's convenience. The hotel is very nice - although it is built around the casino. When you walk in the main entrance, you essentially walk into a casino and you can't get anywhere without going through the casino. The casino looked nice (if you are into casinos - I'm not), but since the hotel is on a reservation, smoking is permitted, which may be ok if you are a smoker - I'm not. That being said, my room was great (I stayed on the Club Floor) with a great view. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was high end. It was worth staying on the club floor - they provide a continental breakfast in the morning and drinks/appetizers in the evening which were both very good - and saved me from spending money on a restaurant or room service. The staff was responsive (especially Sarah and Phoebe in the Club Lounge who were a lot of fun). Had I been a gambler or someone who enjoys casino culture - this would have been an outstanding place to stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

OVER BOOK ROOMS - DO NOT HONOR THEIR RESERVATIONS

Apr 8th, 2019

Unfortunately, we DID NOT STAY because there were no rooms available even though my room was paid for. This appears to be a common practice with Talking Stick Hotel. We called at 3:30pm and informed the gal that we would not be checking in until after the show 6:30pm house keeping was not done, our room was not ready We eat dinner at the Sky Lounge and had MORE COCTAILS and wine. At 9pm I call the front desk only to be told that there ARE NO ROOMS, but she will give us a $75 credit towards our $350 dinner. How about next time you give me $10k towards a DUI!!!! We go to the front desk. I inform the manager that we live in Queen Creek and we are drunk and can not drive. She informs us that there are no room available and no they will not pay for our Uber home. AGAIN, I tell her that we are drunk and can not drive. SHE LETS US LEAVE knowing that we are drunk. If a person lets you leave their establishment knowing that you are drunk and you are in an accident, both families can sue the establishment and the induvial personally. This is an Arizona law. 2014 we had the same problem. 5 years later we come back and issues again I would not recommend this hotel to ANYONE. clearly they do not honor their reservations Our friend booked their room 2 days before the show and they got a room TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
