Unexpected mixed feeling about this property

My husband arrived there on a Friday afternoon and was allowed early check in which was greatly appreciated.you have no other choice but to park valet and they take your bags . Check in was a breeze we got up to our room and waited and waited for our bags . My husband had to go back downstairs to retrieve our bags . Apparently there was some confusion between valet and the front desk and had my husband never gone downstairs to the front desk we may have never gotten our bags. ( a problem I read in a previous review that clearly still has not been corrected) The room was very clean and cool and inviting.my husband intentionally booked a room with a balcony which we were looking forward to using for our romantic couple time alone . That went south fast . The speed boats were coming after a daya day of boating . It’s a marina so no big deal . Then the dualing boat stereos started . One boat louder than the other .Boaters cranking music and singing along loudly to went on for hours and hours into the night . Is there no one to enforce any rules at the marina ? It got to the point that the noise was just too much ....so we were forced to sit inside . Saturday night was just as bad . It was incredibly disappointing seeing as these rooms come at a cost . I understand there’s going to be noise but the same obnoxious behavior night after night that disrupted hotel guests seemed to be dismissed. I also would like to add that the hotel itself is very nice . Very clean . Housekeeping was just amazing. The front desk was always helpful and nice . The pool attendant was very attentive as well . Had there not been so much disruptive noise from the marina we would likely return to this location. Instead of relaxing romantic time on the balcony we ended up leaving the room just to get away from the noise. Even with the doors shut the noise did not die down until about 12 am ......There really needs to be ENFORCED rules about noise from the marina . So very disappointing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location, Subpar service and cleanliness

We lived at this hotel during a road trip around Florida during Covid time. This Marriott hotel is at a great location. It is very close to the convention center and it is in close proximity to a tram that can take you around the city. The view from the room is great as this hotel is surrounded by a lot of water. You can also take a bird/lime electric bike to go around and there are plenty of places that are within the distance of an electric scooter travel. 2 point off service: our luggage unfortunately took more than three hours plus three contacts to arrive. It seems our communication either to the Valet or the Front Desk was completely lost and our luggage stayed in our valet-parked car for the entire time. Also, we were placed in a room that is right next to the elevator. The room was nice but it was very noisy at night. Given the hotel was not at 100% capacity, I would appreciate if the hotel can give their Bonvoy members a better room. 1 point off cleanliness: During Covid, we have been very cautious during our stays in the hotels. We have stayed in about five Bonvoy hotels now and they seem to have a high standard of cleanliness. However, it does not seem to be the case here. The TV remote and the glass cups were not covered by any plastic cover (which seem to be the standard in other hotels). Also, I woke up with a red bump on my eyelid. Not sure if it is a bug or an allergen but the hotel needs to do a better job cleaning, especially during Covid. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Bad service

The staff was rude. Covid policy made things difficult to get (ex. Asking for more towels after staying 3 days the staff had attitudes and literally dropped clean towels on front door where they became dirty again). Seems like covid policy is to save money and not protect guests. I saw not one instance of common areas being disinfected. People moving about freely with no masks. Noise levels were very high in the room I was in - got noise from hallway floor, JW Marriott construction next door, and noise late night from people outside. Balcony was filthy and hadn’t been wiped down in months. This is apart of the room so table and chairs should be maintained to some degree. AC did not cool at night even with the balcony door tightly secured.God knows I wasn’t going to call down with any requests for cleaning Or AC repair, the staff was only pleasant if trying to order “room service” that you must pick up in the lobby. Bar tender was smug with outdoor bar when I asked for recommendation for drinks on their menu. Ok I must not be their “target” guest but I pay and tip well just the same, however this stay did hurt my feelings. Worst Marriott I’ve stayed at to date. Save your money and stay somewhere else, Marriott brand is not what it used to be. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice hotel but...

I'm going to leave a mixed review. The hotel was not terrible by any means. We actually want to stay again once this covid mess is cleared up. First of all, the service at Anchor and Brine was TERRIBLE! Waited way to long for bar service and wait service. waaaaaayyyyy to long! I also over heard other patrons complain of the same thign. Not to mention, we were also asked to leave when we sat outside for breakfast (not ordering from the restaurant as they were CLOSED) but other patrons were eating starbucks just 1 table next to us and at the bar, also not ordering from the restaurant and they were not asked to leave. Regardless of what's going on we will not return to that restaurant/bar. Next, this not a pet friendly hotel. It's on the website that dogs are not allowed and listed in the lobby, however all we heard for 3 days were dogs barking in the room across the hall from us and we saw dogs in the lobby! Also, the pool was shut down at 4pm all three days we were there due to "inclimate weather" but it never rained nor stormed! We also asked for more towels since housekeeping doesn't come in. Instead of the gentleman knocking on the door when he arrived, he just walked in! Good thing we had clothes on! When I made the reservations we chose to do self parking. I was advised by Jennifer that self parking was $15 a day. That's not correct. It's $20 a day. I'm not sure if the City of Tampa raised their rates and Marriott was not notified, but it's NOT $15 a day for self parking. I also find $32 a day for valet obnoxious. Lastly, we were told the cabanas at the pool were complimentary. It's even in my confirmation email that they are complimentary. They are not. They are $20 a day! Stop lying to us! Now, for the good stuff. This hotel is beautiful and literally in the perfect location. Walking distance to everything on the RiverWalk. The room was comfortable and spacious. The balcony was awesome as well. The shower was AMAZING! I love rain showers! The gym is huge with lots of equipment and over looks the river. This hotel has several restaurants but do to covid all but 1 was closed. (no big deal, just wish the service at Anchor and Brine was better). The pool bar was great, service was awesome. We also thoroughly enjoyed the cookout they offer on the weekends. There is a little "gift shop" in the back of the lobby where you can buy wine and beer if you can't get service at the bar. We enjoyed that also. You literally do not have to leave the hotel if you don't want to. Like I said, we want to return once all the restuarants open up and perhaps "rainy" season is over to see all the additional perks this hotel has to offer. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Front desk

On a weekday waited an unreasonable amount of time to be acknowledged let alone serviced. Imma Queen not a Princess, and queens should at least be acknowledged by the front desk or staff. However as her majesty was greeted with all the perks and smiles by Valet. They waited an extended amount of time while my luggage was unloaded by my King (I kissed him years ago when he was a frog), Again big kuddos to valet staff. THANK YOU TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
