Room OK, Check-In Terrible

Feb 28th, 2021

The skiing is fine, but book a hotel room somewhere else unless you want to be treated poorly and made to wait an indeterminate amount of time after contracted check-in time for your room to be available. The "I know it is check-in time but your room isn't ready and probably won't be for a while so keep coming back and checking with us" answer has happened twice now. The front desk agent who had to give us this message did so with a flip attitude leading us to assume that this is all too common an occurrence. During our repeat visits to the front desk to see if the room was finally available we encountered other guests who seemed similarly disgusted. To add additional insult to the inconvenience of late check-in we were told we had to leave the check-in lobby due to COVID concerns. That meant having to wait outside in near zero windy snowy weather, or head to a bar [of course COVID wasn't a concern to all the maskless people in the bar]. Since we choose our resorts based on ski-in ski-out we have crossed Targhee off our list for future visits. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We booked Sioux Lodge sort of by accident but so glad we did! It is further out than one of the other travel companies posted but well worth it. The Tetons are amazing and the resort was beautiful and clean. The staff all around was great. We loved that the chair lift was running and that we were able to go to the "top of the world"! Loft Suite

Dec 27th, 2017

Great room slopeside. Very basic room but had all we needed. It had a mini fridge (no freezer) and a micro wave. The coffee maker is one of those that only use the packs the hotels provides. Recommend bringing your kuerig or some instant if you want more than two cups. You can get coffee at Snorkels, but I like it in the room when I wake up. The TV was great. 42” flat panel that you can hook up HDMI to laptop for Netflix or Amazon. Wifi was exceptional but Verizon cell phone service was nonexistent. We were in room 284. That doesn’t mean 2nd floor. We were on 3rd floor and there is no elevator. get ready to hike the flights. I suppose thats why western people are so healthy! Be sure to stop at Broulims Grocery in Driggs before heading up Ski Hill Rd. Remember, only get what you can fit in a mini fridge and cook in microwave. We loved this place and will definitely return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Rustic but does the job

Jul 24th, 2017

A stay at Grand Targhee doesn't mean luxury lodging but it does include solitude and unique charm. We've stayed a number of times at Grand Targhee but this was our first time in the Sioux Lodge. The room was very spacious. Ours had a king bed along with a single set of bunk beds. It had all the necessary amenities, microwave, coffee maker and fridge. For the price, you could expect nicer accommodations, but again, you are paying for priceless amenities that come with the property. General tips... the pillows are rather hard, so bring your own if you prefer. Also, the property doesn't have air conditioning. Generally the weather cools off at night but we have the deck door and window open all night with a fan running (which was a part of our room). We love the quaintness of the resort and the rustic feel of the lodges, so will certainly be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Large relaxing room

Jan 14th, 2017

We stayed in a 4th floor loft and it was incredibly relaxing. Just a few steps from the hill (plus 3 flights of stairs) and you could stretch out in a large living area with a dinning table that 4 could comfortably sit around, make sandwiches from the fridge, take your boots off (boot dryer included) and prepare for returning to the glorious slopes that are Grand Targhee. The two bunk beds in the alcove are a little cramped but very comfortable. The queen in the loft has a lot of room and great views. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
