Room rates do not include the property's daily resort fee

Travelers looking to experience the awe-inspiring wilderness of Yosemite National Park without having to sleep on the ground can count on plush beds (as well as a long list of other amenities) at Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite. Sitting about 3 miles from the park's southern entrance, this property earns praise from Yosemite visitors for its chalet-style accommodations. Guest rooms are dressed in wood furnishings and blue and white bedding, and they come equipped with flat-screen TVs and writing desks. What's more, Wi-Fi access and valet parking are provided as part of the daily $30 resort fee. Tenaya Lodge also wins visitors over with deluxe treatments at the acclaimed Ascent Spa, which guests say does the trick when you need some post-hike rest and relaxation. If you don't feel like splurging on a massage, lie back and relax by one of four pools instead. And when dinnertime rolls around, you'll have five on-site restaurants from which to choose.

The Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite is a ... four-pearl hotel surrounded by Sierra National Forest, about two miles from the South Gate entrance of Yosemite National Park. It's a comfortable enough place with a homey ambiance, and simple decor inspired by Native American and Southwestern patterns as well as the great wilderness just beyond its walls.

You'd be forgiven for assuming that this lodge is part of the National Park System. It's not. But it has all the hallmarks of one of those great in-park venues (think of the Old Faithful Inn in Yosemite): a soaring lobby space with a massive stone fireplace and lots of hand-stenciled, Native American-esque designs on the walls and beams, plus a slew of on-site activities.

One of the region's largest hotels, Tenaya Lodge is ideal for people who enjoy wilderness treks by day but prefer creature comforts at night. The buildings and giant parking lot blend in fairly well with their woodsy surroundings.
