good location and good standard

May 11th, 2020

The hotel is very close to Gare du Midi, which was a the main reason we chose it. Check in was easy and we were quickly in our room. Two double beds, bar fridge, safe and a large bathroom with bath, . The beds were comfortable and the room quiet but with no view. The breakfast offered a good selection and the staff were friendly and efficient. An easy walk to the grand place. All in all a pleasant stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great hotel, very clean & friendly

Mar 6th, 2020

When I browsing for a hotel near the Eurostar station mainly using TripAdvisor, I saw that most of the hotels around the station were a bit rough. I came across the Augustin which is only 0.8km from the station (and on the way into town anyway). It was a little more expensive but looked as though it would fit the bill and indeed it did. Our room (106) was large & cosy, tea/coffee facilities in the room, a fridge (empty) and a nice bathroom. It was all nice & clean. The only slight downside is that the bedroom is facing the main road and early in the morning the traffic were hooting their horns - it seems that the Belgians like you do that. Very nice people at reception, good hotel TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent service!! Good location, very clean and spacious room

Feb 10th, 2020

Really have to give compliment to the staffs who have gone extra miles to help us with the AirPods that we left behind in the hotel. We stayed here for one night, staffs always welcome us with a smile, we were allowed to leave our luggage with them before check in time. Room is big, bed is comfy. Bathroom equipped with Loccitane toiletries that made me feel at home. Breakfast was excellent with wide varieties of good food. The hotel is easy access to almost all the tourist attractions in the centre. Can’t ask for more! Will choose this hotel again when we visit Brussels given the reasonable price and the quality provided! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very conveniently located hotel

Feb 1st, 2020

Stayed here for 2 nights. Lovely big room and comfy double bed. Large bathroon with bath/shower and a big sink with enough space for toiletries. I didn't have breakfast here, but it is available. Also has deliveroo service! If required. I took the train from the airport and arrived at the nearby station. Only a 4 mins walk to the hotel from the train station. Lots of places to eat nearby. Take a right out of the hotel and walk 2 mins to a lovely sushi restaurant and many other eateries. Left out of the hotel, takes you to a corner shop, restaurants and Grand Place (10 mins walk away). Also close to Central station (another 5 mins from Grand Place), where the hop on hop off bus leaves from. I'd stay here again for the convenient location. Staff were nice too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Bright, modern and very warm

Dec 17th, 2019

Our bedroom was vast, with a large, comfortable bed and full-size bath (plus a shower) which is great if you like a long soak after a day of sightseeing. The curtains block out light very effectively, helping towards a good night’s sleep. However, the room felt a touch unwelcoming. Perhaps the minimalist decor didn’t help. And there were no drawers for your belongings and only four hangers, one of which was broken. But the biggest gaffe was no full-length mirror in the bedroom and the only one was situated above the washbasin in the bathroom. My wife wasn’t very happy about that. The staff were friendly and welcoming and quick to assist you, especially the guy in late-night duty who was running reception and the bar simultaneously as well as dashing back to reception from the (downstairs) bar to let in customers during the evening. He ran around with a big smile on his face and deserved any tips. The hotel was decorated simply and brightly but felt overpoweringly warm. The breakfast was adequate, albeit inconsistent, as a large bowl of fruit salad that was available on our first morning there did not reappear for the rest of our five-night stay. The breakfast room was perfectly fine when there was only one or two guests dining but once it got crowded it became different to navigate without bumping into someone. The Augustin had a great atmosphere and felt friendly and was very convenient for the Midi and Zuid railway station, which was a 15-minute walk away. However, it was situated on the edge of a rather tatty, run-down area which didn’t pose problems during the day but felt rather intimidating when darkness fell, which was pretty early in late autumn and winter. However, places like the Bourse and the Grand Place and ships, bars and restaurants were only a short distance away. All in all, the Augustin gets a qualified four stars from me: for friendly staff and big bedrooms. I’ve deducted one for its location, which isn’t perfect for the prices charged.
